Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
KP: I grew up in Estonia, in a smalltown called Kuressaare. I have always wanted to do something that makes me happy and to share it with others. Altough it took a lot of time to realize that it is music.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
KP: KP comes from my first and last name. I was looking for something that is easy to remember and has my name in it.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
KP: I think online sharing is a good thing, because it helps to get the music to the right audience. I have given away a few copies so others could learn from them or just because he or she is a big fan 🙂
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
KP: I think it´s about passion and about connections. If you show enough passion towards music, people will recognize it.
Finding connections can be hard but if you keep moving towards something you really love you will find ways to achieve your goals. Don´t let rejection let you down. Remember to never give up on your dreams.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
KP: Sometimes I´m just sitting on a quiet balcony and then somekind of a beat is starting in my head. Also I like listening to Wiz Khalifa and he always gives this positive vibe which gives inspiration. Most of the time I would start with a melody with piano or guitar, but sometimes with drums and bass. Depends on how i feel.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
KP: I don´t have an official website yet, but hopefully soon. For now I´m just using Soundcloud, Facebook and Twitter.
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
KP: At first i would bring all my friends and travel to Ibiza, then i would invest some of the money on music instruments and a little bit money for my parents. Then i could give my old equipment to charity.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
KP: You can find many ways to promote your music from the internet. Starting with social media, then Soundcloud, mixcloud, giving your demo to a DJ at your local club. Go to your local coffeeshop and ask someone kindly if he or she would like to listen to your new song. I think Soundcloud is working best for me right now.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
KP: I have couple of projects waiting to be finished, but I´m trying to find vocals on them. Thankfully i have a friend who is willing to get onboard with me.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
KP: If i weren´t making music, I think i would be working on cars more and putting more effort in Drifting.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
KP: It´s hard but until I am working as a chef, i have made a goal to make music at least 1 hour a day, but usually it´s more, because it´s hard to go away from the project when you have just found something that sound really good.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?
KP: I´m going to add some vocals on my music and more DNB beats coming soon.
