I grew up between Albany, GA and Lexington, KY. In our household music was just a way of living. My father is a great gospel singer so I really started to become very interested in making music from listening to him sing every Sunday in church. I started writing my own music and became my own artist around the age of 13.

Locksmith:

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

Well.. the name Locksmith came from just a vision that came to me about my music. I can sing and rap so I kinda imagined it being like a “Locksmith”. One that has the key to open any door in music being having both styles I can do.

Locksmith:

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

As being a breakout artist I know that sharing some of your music to create a buzz or get people to listen to your new music you have to share a little for sure. But most of us musicians goal is too make a good living off of the music we create so It’s way better to get paid vs sharing all the time for me.

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

Sure I know a few. All great friends of mine also. The Talented Tenth Band, Malloy music, Kalab Productionz 

Locksmith:

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

Well my songwriting process is pretty simple. If I feel the music that I’m writing to, It’s usually a great music session for me. All about the feel of the music for me.

Locksmith:

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

I have a few online platforms.. I’m using Reverbnation, Numberonemusic.com, and CD Baby.

Locksmith:

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

The first thing I would do is pay off student loans and make sure a roof and music studio were complete. Of coarse make sure my family was ok. And invest in touring with my music.

Locksmith:

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

The best thing that is working for me is my team. The more positive people around you that believe in you, the more good energy and greatness get out to the universe. Really important to have a great team helping you.

Locksmith:

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

Sure! Right now we are marketing some of our hottest records and looking forward to touring a bit. Also looking forward to working with great music investors and more name brand producers.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing? I’d probably be a school educator if i were not making music.

Locksmith:

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

Really by taking it one step at a time everyday. Working hard and staying positive to make a living at my music.

Locksmith:

Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016? The fans should be looking for an extremely explosive year. A new music sound that is very soulful and universal. A very unique and different flavored artist. Also some really kickbutt concerts around the U.S. Gonna be Exciting!!
