TrapD, Travis M. Drummer Sr, is a native floridian. Graduating high school from West Orange high, he majored in computer information science , followed by a certification as a pharmaceutical technician. TrapD began using hip hop as a method of self expression at a very young age. He was influenced by artists such as wu-tang, outkast, biggie, pac, and tribe called quest… some of the greats of his generation. TrapD has performed and produced several different types of genres. He’s been writing his own lyrics for well over 2 decades, perfecting his craft for 18 years as an unsigned, dedicated writer, lyricist, beat maker, producer, composer, mentor, and hands on with the marketing industry.As a single father of two, he wants to give his seeds and there generation inspiration through a powerful message they can feel. “If you are passionate about something you love, something positive and constructive, if you can make a difference, go full speed, stopping is not an option, take every chance given.” TrapD is dedicated to his craft with a passion that has became his definition.

Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Trap’D: Well, I grew up in Orlando FL, however I have lived in many different cities coming up things where very hard at times, feeling the need to vent at a young age I found that through music I could let it all out.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Trap’D: Well my name it kinda found me, when i first started this music thing I called myself Genesis “the beginning” as I grew everyone around me started calling me Trap, I took that and ran with it. The meaning to me was being Trap’D in this world full of madness. When I go to write I feel as if my words may help someone get out of the Traps in life that could tear you apart, mind, body and spirit.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Trap’D: As for the Online sharing of music I’m kinda on the fence with that one. In one hand it’s great because it gives artist a chance to be heard all around the globe, however it also takes away from an artist as well. Before this music sharing online got started, people would go to the store, find a DJ, or the artist themselves selling music out of the trunk. Now with this online sharing it’s easy to just find and download music without the artist ever seeing a dime for there hard work. Giving music away for free is ok with me to a degree, just enough to create a buzz.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Trap’D: My advice would be to try and stay relevant, don’t be afraid to connect with other artist, Dj’s, and promoters. I would also tell them to invest in yourself, If your not willing to invest in yourself then you can’t expect anyone else to invest in you.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Trap’D:I gather inspiration from the things around me, my kids, things I see happening, Things that I have experienced, and things that I feel I could help someone else grow off of. My normal process when it comes to song writing is different almost every track. At times I may want to be alone to get in my zone, other times I could be in a room people and it just hits me and i have to pull the pen outta my galaxy note and get busy.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
Trap’D: I don’t have a band, but I do use a multitude of platforms to share my music with the world such as, Facebook, ReverbNation, Soundcloud, Itunes, Myspace, Twitter,and spotify to name a few.
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Trap’D: Whoa!!! well for starters I would buy a nice house, as a single father of two I would want to give my seeds the best at home lifestyle possible.I would promote and invest in my craft as a artist, and find a franchise to invest in.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Trap’D: I watch watch what the greats did to get started in the music game, I try to put my music anywhere and everywhere that there are ears to hear it. At this current date and age the internet seems to be the best way to get heard, you can connect with people you would have never encountered all around the world.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Trap’D: Right now I’m working on a album/mixtape full of flame. I had a lil time off due to personal matters that have recently cleared up. So you can expect to hear a lot of noise in 2016 from me.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Trap’D: It’s hard to think of life without music, but if I was not making music I’d more then likely be programing computers or working in a pharmacy, still being the best single father that I can be.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
Trap’D: No lie At times it gets hard, working, taking care of mother and father duties for my children, while maintaining the household. I tend to work around everything a lot of my music is done while the kids are at school or when they are asleep. I love the hustle it keeps me on my toes and I couldn’t see it any other way.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?
Trap’D:Great music coming from Trap’D, music with a purpose, music full of wisdom, and of course a whole lot of punches being thrown left and right. We need to feed this new generation on every platform given and that is my goal for 2016.
