Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

Money Carsin: I’m a South Jers Sicko but been living up North Jersey for the past few years. I grew up around so much music I guess it was kind of inevitable. Always loved rap though. It’s something about how someone’s lyrics can make you feel and think a certain way. When you hear a story and the mini movie plays in your head. That’s what pulled me into becoming an artist. I get to tell my story and the people around me story. I just like to talk our talk. Lol

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

Money Carsin: I always been about money. My real names Tre. My mother says when I was younger if she offered $5 to clean my room I used to have 1 of my friends clean my room for $2. So it was “Tre – Money” Lol Then a while back I was rapping under a different name but 1 of my OG’s showed me a movie called “Mis-education Of Sonny Carson” the movie was so old, it was terrible, funny and dope at the same time. (Even tho that doesn’t really make sense Lol) But I kept watching it. Started understanding it and I snatched up the Carsin but changed the spelling. My the name went from Tre – Money to Money Carsin.

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

Money Carsin: I love it and hate it. I love it because it can give talented people a platform and allow them to build a fan base. But I also hate it because it turned the entire world into artists Lol. So many people make music and it’s so easy to put it out that so much garbage discourages people from wanting to hear new music they might not be familiar with. No disrespect to anybody pursuing a dream but the facts are the facts. Everything is not for everybody Lol. I definitely drop free mix tapes from time to time. It’s like the previews to the movie. Lol You go to the food court in the mall and you always see the Chinese food spot line is chipping. Why? Because of that guy in the front giving out free samples. Get it?

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

Money Carsin: Just have the right team and stick with the plan. It’s all about consistency. In this game you must stay in people’s faces. My pop always said they either gotta love you or think you’re crazy. Keep knocking at the doors until somebody opens one and then do it again.

Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?

Money Carsin: Thank god I never made a huge mistake Lol I’ve lost my breath or skipped a word but never really anything drastic or that would tarnish the overall performance. If I was to make that kind of mistake tho there’s nothing to do but pick it right back up and finish strong.

Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?

Money Carsin: We do have a little something in the works tour wise but I’ve never been on a full fledge tour. I’ve done shows in Jersey, NYC, Cali, the Dominican Republic and all that but I haven’t been on a full tour yet. Now as far as stories I do have some, but I gotta keep those on the tuck for now. They might be worth good money in a few years lol.

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

Money Carsin: A lot of people say it but ask anyone that knows me and they’ll tell you my inspiration is life. If I haven’t been in or around it than you probably won’t hear it from me on a record. I usually just let the beat take me where it takes me. I don’t really pre plot out and say I need this type or that type of record. I just go with he flow that’s why people feel the music.

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

Money Carsin: Websites under construction at the moment. I’m everywhere online. ITunes, Google Play, Amazon and all. and of course I’m on social media. Everything’s @MoneyCarsin

Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?

Money Carsin: You might find some Demi Lovato and some Taylor Swift but thats my 10 year old daughter always touching my stuff LOL. Now my stash might have some 5 Heartbeats or Day 26 for long solo turnpike drives when I think I can sing LOL

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

Money Carsin: Simple, Id blow me and the Gang up to the point of no return. #Pause. My team and I know exactly how to invest that into this career of ours. I’m not getting into any details because I cant give away the play book for free but just know the investments would all be musically related and real estate related. Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now? Money Carsin: I’m a be all the way honest with you. I don’t know that technical side that well, that’s not my bag. My right hand JBiggs The Jerzey Boi knows all that stuff inside out as well as the boss man JD Walker so I stick to the music and business. Lol I think we can agree they both have the goods at both our Jersey and Cali home bases because I heard my sound is right! Lol

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

Money Carsin: Me and my management are always looking to better our promo. Lately social media and blogs have been treating us better and better. Also radio is starting to show us more love too. When you get the radio spins you gotta have something out and easy to find for the people to follow up with.

Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?

Money Carsin: Redman and Method Man overseas. I did a record and video out BK with Redman called “Touchin Mo Cream” and his energy is nuts so I can only image performing with them together.

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

Money Carsin: Definitely some more shows on the West Coast coming sooner than later. As far as projects, I have the “Next Nobody” mix tape hosted by Power 105’s EmEz out now for free on datpiff and audimack. Dropping the #TunaGang mix tape soon with Dj B. Original and I’m currently working on my debut album called “Golden Tux” with super producer JD. Walker.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

Money Carsin: Probably coaching basketball. I played D1 and D2 in college and I probably would of stayed in that lane. I love to compete so I guess the rap game eases the pain of not competing on the court. Lol

Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?

Money Carsin: The 1st album I personally bought was actually Shaq’s 1st album Lol I wanted Snoop’s “Doggy Style” album but my mom wasn’t having that. She said I had to get something without the parental discretion sticker on it cuz I was so young LOL. Now the album that made me fall in love with hip hop was A.Z. 1st album “Doe or Die”. But that’s a whole other story. Everything he said on that album I automatically pictured in my mind. I could actual see it all. It was so vivid and I remember that whole day because my pop took me to Tower records to get the album and the next day we were on the bus to the Million Man March.

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

Money Carsin: Sacrifice!!! There’s times where you have to sacrifice going to this event or turn down that session or show to be with your family. There’s other times you have to sacrifice time with your family to be at certain events or
shows. The key is picking the right times to do both. As long as I maintain the right balance the universe evens out my opportunities and allows the team and I to stay on point. It’s not how much you do but how well you do what you do. I’m a copyright that before this interview drops Lol

Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?

Money Carsin: The fans should look forward to even better music this year. I’m about halfway thru recording the album and even the records that probably won’t make the cut are bananas. Lol I’m definitely doing more shows this year and putting out a few projects, free and for sale. They can look forward to riding this wave with us… #TunaGang #IE #ETS #IVMM
