Justin: I am Justin from NYC.  I came up with the idea of Capital Vibes as a music blog to share music with others.  I aim to promote lesser known artists with a focus on EDM, House, and Rap.  My job is to decide which music to post (after we listen to them together), and to manage the overall mission and direction of Capital Vibes.  While not enjoying great music, I love traveling, chess, and sports.  I’ll keep you all updated with our upcoming posts!

Charlie: I am Charlie from Princeton. I have been with Capital Vibes since the beginning. My job and goal is to make sure our mission is being carried out. This is to make sure we are recommending and posting the best music possible. I personally love EDM and House music but occasionally I appreciate some good rap. Outside of music I love Arsenal, Politics, and Golf. I also have an affinity for great filmmakers.

Sam: Hey! I’m Sam from Chicago. I’m among the guys who first created Capital Vibes, and a hardcore EDM fan. I write a lot of the reviews since I’m taking an advanced music theory class and play trumpet with my school’s jazz band. When not working to bring you the best of the genre, I’m doing homework, sleeping, or at school. I’ll be working a great deal with keeping you updated through social media and on YouTube, so I’ll be keeping you posted on all the upcoming tracks!

Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?

 

We first found out about Exposed Vocals on Twitter and we browsed through the content and really loved the stuff we saw.  We were contacted by Exposed Vocals on Twitter recently and are more than happy to do this interview!

 

Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

 

We are trio and all of us came from different places.  Justin is from NYC, Charlie is from Princeton, and Sam is from Chicago.  We decided to do our music blog because we love sharing music with other people.

 

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

 

Our philosophy on music is that it always gives off a certain vibe.  There’s a distinct vibe to every song, we believe, and that’s where the “Vibes” in “Capital Vibes” comes from.  “Capital” just sounded great and cool so we put that together and called it “Capital Vibes”.

 

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

 

We love online music sharing.  We blog about music all the time and we put it on for free.  We really enjoy sharing music with others and that’s why we’re happy to put out our music to the public.

 

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

 

The beginning is the hardest part.  You should be decisive and persistent in your passion.  After you get started things will become a lot easier.

 

Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?

 

We only started a month ago and are very surprised with the success we got.  We haven’t participated in any performances yet but look forward to performances in the future.

 

Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

 

We usually blog and promote artists rather than song-write ourselves.  We love the process of selecting great songs for our audience.  We listen a lot to all kinds of different music together, and sometimes a song is just so stunning that we can see how much we all like it before we even talk about it.  Those are the songs we usually choose to post.

Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?

 

All our songs are absolutely amazing and we don’t have embarrassing songs in our MP3 players (jk Sk8er Boi by Avril Lavigne is pretty embarrassing).

 

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

 

We would invest most of it and use the rest to buy a nice car.

 

Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?

 

We usually work without a studio but are open to the idea of using a studio in the future.

 

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

 

We have a very strong online presence that we use to promote our music.  We post our songs on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, Soundcloud, and Instagram.  This has helped us gain a lot of public exposure.

 

Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?

 

We would love to perform with Odesza because we are absolutely mesmerized by their music.  Their music is almost a distinct genre of itself, with sounds so good and different from everything else we hear that we always leave stunned after listening to a great Odesza song.

 

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

 

We’re focusing on growing our music blog and to continue posting lots of great music.  We’re working on improving the video edits in our Youtube videos as well as maintaining great relations with the people we work with.

 

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

 

We are still high school students so there’s a lot of different activities that we’re interested in and obviously there’s quite a lot of schoolwork where we go to school.

 

Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?

 

That was a very long time ago, I don’t I think I remember it.

 

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

 

We’re all very passionate individuals who try to get the most out of life.  We live every day to the fullest and spend our time pursuing our passions and managing our responsibilities.  There’s 24 hours a day, which is a lot if you think about it.  A lot of people don’t realize how much they can do with this time, but you can do a lot in 24 hours and that’s how we manage to juggle our responsibilities and push ourselves to be the best we can be.

 

Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?

 

We started December 2015 and have already gotten about 1000 Facebook likes and 1000 Twitter followers (within about a month).  This was very extraordinary and unexpected, because we started Capital Vibes just for fun.  We look forward to really grow our audience and focus on what makes us great: blogging about great music.
