I’m Dana and I am 14 years old. I will be 15 in a couple of weeks. I just started up my youtube channel again and I’m trying any way possible to get people to watch me! I am a carefree person that loves music and hanging out with my friends. I have always dreamed of wanting to make it big in singing and I love doing it very much! Music has always been a big part of my life!
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Danaisapenguin: My story is I’m just a small town girl really. I’m going into high school next year and I’m 15 years old. I think what made me want to become an artist is my Dad would always sing when he was still around, I guess you could say he’s kind of my inspiration!
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Danaisapenguin: Well, my friends and I were coming up with nicknames for each other one day and their’s for me was penguin! I’ve always liked penguins, but I guess my friends are the inspiration behind it!
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Danaisapenguin: I really think it’s a great idea! I’m not really big in singing yet so I think it’ll help me out a lot! I definitely would give it out for free because it would be a good way to get me out there.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Danisapenguin: I’m actually a start up right now! But, I guess a tip would be to develop your OWN sound!
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Danaisapenguin: I usually gather it from important things that recently happen, they usually start out as free verse poems and I try to sing to it!
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
Danaisapenguin: No, not quite yet but I do have videos on youtube.
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Danaisapenguin: I would probably use it to help people in need like the homeless!
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Danaisapenguin: I use anything you could think of, facebook, twitter, youtube etc.. I think twitter is the best and a close second would be youtube!
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Danaisapenguin: I’ve got a few ideas but I like to keep them a surprise.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Danaisapenguin: Probably living my normal 14 year old life, it wouldn’t be much different just take out singing (which would be very sad)
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
Danaisapenguin: My schoolwork sometimes does get in the way. If I have work then I always put that first then later apologize if its been a while!
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?
Danaisapenguin: Probably me getting out there more, I’ve recently gained a lot of followers so I think its finally the moment I’ve been waiting for! 🙂
