Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

 

Hafez: Well, I was born in Milwaukee WI. At age 6 I moved to Oakland California for about 2 years, then moved to Chicago. I am currently back in Milwaukee though. I always was intrigued by music since I was a little child. When I was younger I use to carry the empty tissue roll around rapping in it as if it was a mic. I just feel as though that interest expanded when I got older and was able to experience things for myself, and since I was never that good at conversing with people I’m able to do it through my music.

 

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

 

Hafez: I feel as though I’m more than just a rapper. I am a poet, so I wanted a name that correlates with that, and being that the name Hafez was Coined by a Iranian poet I decided to use it for my stage name.

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

 

Hafez: I love it, It gives us local and upcoming artist a platform to be able to share our music all over the world, and I appreciate the opportunity to do so. For right now yes I have free music on soundcloud including my new Kanye-Themed project “WESTern Logic”.

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

Hafez: Just be determined and also you have to be okay with stepping out of your comfort zone.Networking is key.

 

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

 

Hafez: My songwriting inspiration comes from life. If I’m feeling sad, angry, content, confident or if it’s someone it’ll show in my lyrics and the concept of the song. Also people I’m inspired by so many people just by the little things they say or do. I feel as though I’m here to inspire and to be inspired, so I take in inspiration from others to inspire even more.

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

 

Hafez: First thing first I’m making sure my mother and grandmother is well off. I’d probably move in a better area, and purchase my dream car which is a BMW possibly invest in some business and save the rest for a sunny day.

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

 

Hafez: I honestly just post it share it through all of my social & music sites and let the people decide rather or not they want to hear my story.

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

 

Hafez: About a month ago I dropped my 4 track project “WESTern Logic” just to build up some steam being that I havent put out an actual project in 3 years, But my full project which is titled “Unconventional Vibes” will be out April 30th.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

 

Hafez: I am a writer when I’m not composing music I write poems and short stories as well, So perhaps journalism, literary writer.

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

 

Hafez: It can be difficult most definitely, but when you really want something nothing s going to stay in your way.
