Exposed Vocals Interviews Prequel
I am a young French DJ of 17 years, living in Britain (French Region). My artist name is Prequelectro or Prequel, both are possible. I create music on Fl Studio like High tech minimal, a music style created by Boris Brejcha, who is one of my favorite DJ. I immediately liked his style of music, because it is totally different from other already existing styles of music and can be heard everywhere. I also make electro music. But I spend more time mixing and prepare mix sets that make music. My sources of inspiration are many, we can find Boris Brejcha, Don Diablo making extraordinary music, Ummet Ozcan, Nicky Romero, Juicy M makes a remarkable work, three quarters of the time she mixes without a headphone which is fascinating. I also like Madeon, Club Cheval, Bob Sinclar, Cesare and Breakbot. Becoming a professional DJ would be a dream.
Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?
Prequel: Simply by Twitter. I had a Twitter account for quite some time but I did not go far, but since my Twitter account is linked directly to my account Soundcloud Prequelectro , I go regularly . And so I was surprised to see that exposed vocals wanted to interview me about my music . I immediately accept of course. I am not registered but it will not be long because I discovered many benefits and different things that could help me to discover my music to many people .
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Prequel:
I grew up and I always grow in my native region in Brittany, a beautiful region of France located to the west of the country, where there is a music festival which is great and which is called the “Vieilles Charrues “. I discovered electro music easily on the radio, mostly on a French radio station that broadcasts sound dancefloor, because it is the only young radio that I capture in my town (it’s a small town) and I was fascinated by the working DJ. When I go to high school, I met an acquaintance who loved DJ work, and that is that I started looking to the mix, I first get a dj software and it was at this time that the desire to become a DJ came to me. I made another encounter, that of a musician, who was in the same school as me, he will recognize surely, you will see its music, “3lectro” on Soundcloud. It is at this point that I wanted to do music like him, I learned to use many editing software and music creation software. Besides, I want to thank him for support.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Prequel:
At that time I was watching Lord of the Rings . And one of my friends was anxious to see the new trilogy by Peter Jackson, The Hobbit . He was anxious to see the prequel to this film. I immediately fell in love with that word. it is fluid , simple, and when you hear that word we accept it right away . It must be said at the same time I was looking for a DJ name, and as I fell in love to the word, so I used this one .
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Prequel: I think it’s great . it allows amateur artists to discover and share their talents. And why not a day to be spotted because it is very hard today to get a place in the world of music without TV or internet for this is that everything happening today. Share music can also help people who love listening to music, to discover music that switches neither radio or a TV.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Prequel:
Yes I know an artist , which I have already quoted ” 3lectro ”
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Prequel: It ‘s already happened to make mistakes but I have them all up and ca final has not heard fortunately, but yes it happened to me during two set or I have not managed to caller two songs , rendering the beginning was disgusting but I catch up rather quickly which allowed not to hear the mistake I had made .
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Prequel: Unfortunately not, but I would like to tour , what more exceptional to find its audience. But it is not impossible that in two years I mix in night or boxes for people to come and see my work.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Prequel: Three quarters of the time the inspiration comes when I’m alone in my room. In my music , I try many songs on my synth and when I wish to refine a melody , I have a piano app on my smartphone , so when I ‘m not home I can invent anyway , but I must be quiet. If not for my mix that comes with the habit when I hear music I am able to know almost instinctively with music what I can block it in a set and it also comes thanks to the habit.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
Prequel:
I use my music to SoundCloud , you can watch my work on Prequelectro , and my mix on my Mixcloud , also Prequelectro but my last mix are not on the platform because they are not registered . So those you find are just the first sets of my creation , they obviously have nothing to do with those now .
Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?
Prequel: I do not have embarrassing songs I mostly electro and dance music , some are 80 , maybe a little old school , but not bothersome .
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Prequel:
I would rest probably because this year I have a very important final exam , I think I would buy a beautiful car to go on school and an apartment on the coast overlooking the sea. The rest I’ll use it to buy last controller CDJ 2000 NEXUS , and the latest pioneer turntables. DJ equipment therefore to be developed my mixing, although my platinum Numark N4 suits me perfectly.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
Prequel:
I’m currently working a new music, which will be called French Movement, and there will be some allusions electro and dance. I think with Chinatown, will be my second best music.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Prequel: I try to promote my music by various means of streaming at my disposal and of course by advertising that I create when I talk about my music to different people around me , my school , and then social networks as well as interviews such permits are many artists today to become better known and make a wonderful promo.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
Prequel:
I dream to create music with DJs like Ummet Ozcan , Don Diablo , Cesare , Disclosure, Breakbot , Boris Brejcha , Juicy M or Nicky Romero because I love their work, and I ‘d love to produce me in nightclubs , and in bigger festivals like Inox Park, Tomorowland , ultra music festival miami , and Vieilles Charrues for example
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Prequel:

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Prequel:
I would like to study journalism in parallel because I love this job and just to be honest if I did not do music I did not know what I would do, because it takes me enormously time to prepare such the sets , so I honestly do not know.
Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?
Prequel: The first album I bought was when I was 6, the Crazy Frog album had just come out , and I was fascinated by this music, because there was a change of voice and different effects, and for me it was something new , I used to hear rock , pop but it’s true that this is the first time I heard this style of music.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
Prequel:
For now I manage to differentiate the two and I saw very well the two, I do not know if I would mix when clubbing it will be different , but I think if the music takes over it can change , for now it’s a passion , even though I spend a lot of time to do it , but yes it can change depending on recess that music can bring me new , boxed mix as such .
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?
Prequel:
Maybe a change in year end, including the mix, because it may be that I can mix in Nightclub , many music also come out , why not an album release year-end , nothing is impossible.
