Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?
PB MUSIC COMPOSER: I was approached by Exposed Vocals when I started promoting my work on Twitter. I accepted this interview because it’s a good opportunity to share and talk about my work.
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
PB MUSIC COMPOSER: I spent much of my childhood near Bordeaux in France. Then, as a teenager I had to follow my parents who moved for work. This brutal change affected me badly at the time and the music was my refuge, my means of expression. I watched a lot of concert DVDs and I told myself that I wanted to share my emotions and touch people that way.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
PB MUSIC COMPOSER: I didn’t want to give my real name to this project, I simply took my initials followed by the purpose of the project. This is computer-assisted music composition and not live interpretation. I don’t want my listeners to have any doubt about that.
Moreover, I keep my real name for a more ambitious project in the future 😉
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
PB MUSIC COMPOSER: Online music sharing is very interesting, especially for emerging artists, because it requires few resources. It helps to be more accessible and greatly increases the number of potential people who could listen to their music. It can create this interactivity between the artist and his audience, and this is a good opportunity to have a first return to work and begin to make music. As for me, my music is already available for free on Soundcloud and Jamendo. It encourages people to listen and share. It’s a win for everyone.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
PB MUSIC COMPOSER: Being a beginner myself, I don’t think I have enough experience to give tips to new bands, I would even say that any advice is welcome !
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
PB MUSIC COMPOSER: Yes it happened to me during a concert in a church. We played in the quartet, I had an absence during a song and got lost in the score. I had to improvise in order to keep playing, but at times it felt lacked something was missing in the harmony ! Still, I want to say that I managed to get back before the end of the song 🙂
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
PB MUSIC COMPOSER: Unfortunately I haven’t toured yet but I hope it will be a part of my projects in the future !
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
PB MUSIC COMPOSER: I draw my inspiration from the everyday life, in my personal experience. When I compose, I want to touch people, to make them feel an emotion. If I do not believe in what I do, I prefer not to get it out.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
PB MUSIC COMPOSER: I don’t have a personal website. However, I share my music on Soundcloud and Jamendo and you can follow me on Twitter (PB MUSIC COMPOSER).
Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?
PB MUSIC COMPOSER: I will not answer this question ..! The song Hello Kitty by Avril Lavigne, it gives off a certain energy, I listen to it quite often when I do sports 🙂
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
PB MUSIC COMPOSER: I would create my own label and help young musicians to start, while touring around the world with my band !
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
PB MUSIC COMPOSER: I have yet to give birth to my own home studio to record with a band. I have already started to buy some microphones, and I hope to set up a serious and multi-purpose facility in the course of the year. Currently, I’m using a basic music composition software.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
PB MUSIC COMPOSER: I confess that I don’t care too much. I share my music online, and if people like it, word of mouth will do the rest !
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
PB MUSIC COMPOSER: If I could play with any artist, it would probably be with Neal Morse or Yoshiki Hayashi, two genius composers that marked me forever. And the concert would be at the Tokyo Dome in Japan. It’s my dream concert hall.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
PB MUSIC COMPOSER: I am thinking about setting up my own home studio. I want to play with a band that compose and play their own music.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
PB MUSIC COMPOSER: If I was not making music, I would doing anything to play 🙂
Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?
PB MUSIC COMPOSER: I think it was a Best of The Offspring or Green Day American Idiot I don’t remember, but I was happy because I was bringing my contribution to this band.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
PB MUSIC COMPOSER: It requires a large organization. Sometimes we must accept to put some music aside to make a living and be able to compose later, and when you come back to it, it’s even better !
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?
PB MUSIC COMPOSER: Maybe the beginning of a new musical adventure, who knows ! 😉
