Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?
Jugo: Well, i guess there’s hardly anything that is online that’s not heard about these days tho…lol. I leant about Exposed vocals on twitter basically, i got a message asking to be interviewed and i’m like hell yeah, why not…lol
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Jugo: I grew up in Lagos Nigeria, Gowon Estate precisely… In all sincerity i never chose music, music chose me. Music made that decision for me i am just following through…lol. I was born for this.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Jugo: Oh that name was coined out of my first and middle names, Jephter and Ugochukwu, easy peasy…lol
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Jugo: Online music sharing is not a bad thing, however it depends on how its being done or the angle you looking from, for an upcoming artiste it helps your song go places you did not even imagine because at the start of your career all you want is to be heard and appreciated first of all. and yes i give my music away for free. I do that because i know music will eventually pay me back in its own way and time.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Jugo: Trust me i’m looking to get tips myself…lol. thing is, honestly, the internet is at the disposal of anyone right now, best thing to do is leverage on it, you do not have to pay so much these days to be seen or heard, you can easily make a video and post it online and people from around the world can easily have access to it. so i say just keep doing your thing and make full use of the internet, you will definitely be heard.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Jugo: every artiste makes mistakes on stage no matter how rehearsed and professional they are, the difference is as a professional you need to be spontaneous, you need to be aware that anything can happen, and you need to be prepared for the worst.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Jugo: Never been on a tour yet, but i’m really looking forward to getting to that point in my musical career.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Jugo: For me my love for music is my number one inspiration, i get a sound in my head and i dont let it go, i record it on my phone immediately and then revisit and develop it and turn it into something nice and pleasant to the ears. There is really no particular process for me, i just go with the flow, once i get the hook done, i’m good to go.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
Jugo: I do not have a website at the moment, working on that soon tho, for now i use a lot of online platforms to share my music, i have a page on soundcloud, facebook and i also got my music on tooxclusive.com, aceworld and other online music sharing platforms.
Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?
Jugo: depends on what you mean by embarrassing tho…lol. if its on my mp3 player trust me there is something i like about it.
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Jugo: Half a million dollars and a year off, hmmm…. i’d invest some in a massive music studio and others in some other businesses, i got a passion for fashion and travel so some of it will go to that… all of this is after i buy a house for my family tho…lol
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
Jugo: I got a couple of songs im working on presently, dont really have the luxury of affording the big producers right now so id work with a couple of very good upcoming producers that will bring the best out of my music, understanding is everything.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Jugo: Well basically for now now i do it all by myself, looking to get some music promoters in to help my music reach out wider and faster, but as we all know it can be pretty expensive, getting radio air plays not so easy when you have a tight budget…lol. Radio, Online and videos work perfectly.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
Jugo: i would love to work with a lot of them trust me, i love good music and good performances anytime anyday, so this is such a difficult question to answer…lol. i’d say usher raymond, ive always loved his delivery.
Exposed Vocals: So,what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Jugo: Trying to promote Follow me go, my Debut single and working on making a masterclass video for it pretty soon, so y’all watch out.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Jugo: I would probably be an on air personality, that is something else i got a passion for.
Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?
Jugo: honestly i cant remember which one was the first, i bought a couple growing up, but i think it was plantashun boiz back den.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
Jugo: If i tell you its been easy id be telling a big fat lie. It has not been easy but God has given me the grace, the strength and wisdom to carry on.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?
Artist: bigger things definitel
