Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?
Vic Versa: I followed Exposed Vocals twitter page, and some one hit me up telling me they like my music, and wanted to interview me and now I’m here.
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Vic Versa: Im 23 years old, im currently in the CT area. Growing up I moved around a lot. I was born in Massachusetts, then I moved to the Bronx, when I was three months old. I lived in New York for nine years, after that me and my family moved around a lot from city to city all around the U.S., I got into creating music when I was in 12th grade. I was living in Springfield, MA at the time and some of my boys started raping years earlier, and I was always around them in the studio and I just fell in love with the art.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Vic Versa: The name Vic Versa came from my homie Xzar whose part of ESK, he came up with the name and it stuck. Vic is short for my real name Victor and Versa stands for a lot of things like, Vic “versus the world”, or Vic “The Verse Killah”, or “Vice Versa”, just different meanings to it.

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Vic Versa: Online music sharing is very important, especially for indie artist or bands. I feel like you can reach a bigger audience online, since almost anyone with internet access around the world can listing to an artist music with just one click, and instead of being just locally known an artist can expand and be heard around different cities and countries. My music is free, I personally feel like as long as the fans come and support me at my shows, they can have all the music for free.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Vic Versa: always look online for open mics and gigs you can play at. When you do shows around your state and different cities, you can expand your fan base quicker. You never know who might be at that one open mic that can take your career to the next level.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Vic Versa: I think every artist when they first started performing messed up in some way. All it is learning from that mistake and trying not to do it again. I try not to make mistakes but sometimes it happens, I usually just keep going on with the show even if I mess up.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Vic Versa: No I have not toured yet. Hopefully sometime in the future I hope I will be able to. I’ve just done local shows as far as performing goes.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Vic Versa: I always look for the beat first, I just sit down and roll up some Mary Jane while looking for the beat lol hhaha. I usually start of freestyling just to get the flow down, so I can start the verse. After that there’s no writing process, sometimes I write the end of the verse before I write anything else, and sometimes I write the middle of the verse before I write anything else. I don’t know the way I write is kind of weird.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
Vic Versa: Facebook, twitter, sound cloud, reverb nation, Instagram, and Tumblr, and YouTube, is what I use to share my music.

Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?
Vic Versa: ho hey – the lumineers, and Tom Odell – Heal.
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Vic Versa: I can do a lot with that. Open up my own business, buy a house in Dominican Republic, split some of the money with my family and loved ones, and go even harder with this music.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
Vic Versa: right now, none.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Vic Versa: Social media platforms is what I use to promote my music. Sound Cloud is my favorite. And I try to perform at local gigs and open mics, so I can potentially expand my fan base locally. I use online platforms like sound cloud so I can be heard everywhere around the world and not just locally.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
Vic Versa: I would love to perform with Nas in Madison Square Garden. The reason why is because Nas is my inspiration as an artist.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Vic Versa: I just dropped an EP called Paid Dreams its up on sound cloud. Next up is a project of mines called Old School 1992, I’m bringing it back the golden age of hip hop with this one. Nothing but old school 90’s era beats and beautiful samples. Coming out sometime in march.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Vic Versa: To be honest I have thought about that a lot lately. And I have no idea what I would be doing, I think mentally I would be lost and have no outlet to express myself when I’m feeling a certain way. Every day I try to thank god for this talent he blessed me with.
Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?
Vic Versa: if I must really admit my first album was when I was 13 years old and it was that usher album where he had that yeah song with lil jhon. I was only 13 and me and my brother raised up and went half on the album. Lol embarrassing I know.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
Vic Versa: I’m a big believer in knowing how to manage your time. Right now I’m going to college, working, and doing my thing with this music. There’s time for everything all it is knowing how to manage your time properly.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?
Vic Versa: Fans can look forward to me making even better and different music. And me performing at more venues and local gigs.
