Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?

 

We were exposed to it by social media. We are willing to take risks to figure things out the right way.

 

Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

Turtlegang that consist of Killa Kam,Houston and Swavey G. Killa Kam is originally from the southside of Houston, Texas. He started to pursue music as young man and decided to take it serious. As well as the other artist Swavey G was born in Germany. His parents were in the military causing him to move back and from his hometown Beaumont, Texas. When he was 7 years old he started writing Christian Rap and as he got older he conformed into hip-hop/rap. When he came out the Navy he took it serious. The two young men knew one another for over 5 years and decided to work together as Turtlegang.

 

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

The name was created knowing in life it takes time and harwork to get notice the passion we have for music. So we applied those aspects of life to a group of 2 individuals calling ourselves Turtlegang. We are not asking for handouts but for the opportunity to be heard to show our intellect in our music talent The inspiration behind it was bring our own innovative ideas to exemplify the unique style we have.

 

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

 

The internet is a very precise way to market your brand and your assets. We have been using the popular social media sites to share our music and daily life. We make music for the fans to show that there is other people going through what they are going through. They can make it on top with listening to our positive way of intriguing you with the music to your ears. It’s about getting a positive foundation. We are doing this because it’s a passion. The money will come when you do what you love.

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

We would advise be yourself, work hard, and brand yourself.

 

Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?

 

Yes we all make mistakes, but you have to remember that practice makes perfect. We continue performing we have to finish what we start.

 

Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?

 

We cannot speak on that yet because we have not started the tour we are about to do.

 

 

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

 

We just speak true facts that people can connect to. Once you put your heart into something you will see yourself grow in your lyrics.

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

 

Yes, we do have a couple of websites where you can find our music. For instance, soundcloud, mypsace, tumblr, mymixtapez, topmixtapes, spinrilla, datpiff, and audiomack.

 

Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?

 

Nothing is embarrassing because we are always lyrically regurgitating interesting things.

 

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

 

We would invest, give back and then build off of that. On top of that we would use the money on a personal level.

Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?

 

We are going to be releasing a project very soon.

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

 

Social media, schools, events, and shows.

Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?

 

The artists would have to be Biggie, Tupac, Future, Lil Wayne, Travis Scott, Kanye West, Bryson Tiller, WhyJae, YFN Lucci, Johnny Cinco, and Migos.  We want to perform overseas, SXSW, Coachella, and anywhere the fans wants us.

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

 

We are working with some local artist and are just giving the music to every city/country.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

 

Well we are college students majoring in Mechanical engineering and Architecture. If it wasn’t that we wouldn’t do nothing but hustle.

 

Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?

 

We cannot remember the first CD.  We support every artist that relates to what we been/going through.

 

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

 

Life is all about balance. Accountability and responsibility are the key components in life.

Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?

 

We would like every to support the music and movement that we both have going on. We are not rappers we are artist so expect to hear quality and perfection with the songs on the upcoming project. We love and thank all the fans. God bless.
