Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?

Staicy Dreezy: The first time I uploaded music tunes and shared the link on twitter, I found a follow request from Exposed Vocals on twitter   and  I followed back. I researched about it on the internet and it came as a good opportunity to showcase my work by uploading some tunes on sound cloud and sharing the link on twitter, facebook and Instagram.

Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

Staicy Dreezy: My real name is Staicy Wambui Muhindi. I am a 19 year old Kenyan girl, born and raised. I live in Westland, Nairobi. I grew up loving music and I would tell myself everyday that I would work hard to reach my goals. Just as Lupita Ny’ongo said, “dreams are valid no matter where you are from,” but as long as you believe in yourself and you must have confidence, but not too much. I knew all I wanted to do was music and no matter what people thought I would make sure I prosper in music through the help of God and my family. We also must have faith to be what we want to be.

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

Staicy Dreezy: One of my favorite artist is Drake. I love his songs and I would always try rapping like him using his voice. That’s how I got the name, from Drizzy to Dreezy. He is one of those artists who’s himself using his words and doesn’t try being someone else.

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

Staicy Dreezy: I think sharing music is fine that’s how people get heard and show people what they can do. What am doing now is making tunes just to get heard and show people what I can do. When I start making my own material that will be my source of livelihood. I might give my music for free once in a while.

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

Staicy Dreezy: I would tell them not to give upon what they want to become in life because you can’t be something in life by giving up and not trying. Life isn’t a fast lane. There will be huge bumps along the way and it’s up to you to cross them or turn back. Be persistent.

Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?

Staicy Dreezy: Right now I am concentrating on music production. I haven’t done any performances yet. But from what I know it’s nerve wrecking but once you on that stage just have fun with it.

Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?

Staicy Dreezy: I haven’t started going on tours yet but I hope someday I will through the grace of God.

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

Staicy Dreezy: Inspirations come from experiences about love or life and hardships or maybe from people we look up to like our family and loved ones’.

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

Staicy Dreezy: I don’t have a band site. I have software’s that I use to create beats and upload them on sound cloud for now.

Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?

Staicy Dreezy: Hahaha songs recreated in  different funny versions.

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

Staicy Dreezy: I would help my family with the cash like pay for my cousin’s fees and help my mother and grandparents also. If I had a year off I would still work and spend time with my family.

Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?

Staicy Dreezy: All I have right now is a laptop and the software’s I need. I will open a studio soon when I get enough finances.

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

Staicy Dreezy: I upload them online and send some to my friends to help me promote them through there social media.

Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?

Staicy Dreezy: I would love to perform with Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Drake, 2 Pac and Diggy Simmons. He is an upcoming artist with great albums especially the freestyles that just came out. It doesn’t matter where as long as the experience is memorable and you get to do what you love learning stuff from these great artists who have been in the game for so long.

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

Staicy Dreezy: I am working on some tunes during my free time you’ll be hearing them soon.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

Staicy Dreezy: I would definitely be acting. That’s my second passion. If I could have that opportunity I would do both of them.

Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?

Staicy Dreezy: During those times at a young age I wouldn’t get cash to buy an album that easy but when I begged I bought a Michael Jackson cd and a YMCMB cd. It was those times I would find my older cousins listening to hiphop and I would be like wow that’s some good music. The beats and the base in them really got to my soul. Hiphop became my soul consoler when I was sad or bored.

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

Staicy Dreezy: It’s hard but I try my best to keep up with everything.

Staicy Dreezy: Some hot tunes throughout the year.
