I go by Willz Pheonix or just Willz. I am an emcee/vocalist from Norfolk, Virginia. I’ve been rapping since I was 11 years old. I started rappin as therapy to deal with some things I had to grow up facing. Music became my love as a child because it was my escape from reality. Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?

Willz: Heard about you guys through Social Networking

Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

Willz: I grew up in Norfolk, Virginia out Park Place. Raised by my grandmother and her kids , I started rapping when I was Eleven years old after hearing my uncles freestyling in the living room.

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

Willz: Willz is my shorter version of my last name, I just you it as a First name and people say it’s my split personality.

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

Willz: I think it’s very useful and helpful way to get new dope music out, and yea I do just to see what folks think of it.

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

Willz: The Best Advice is too Never Stop.

Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?

Willz: not really, I practice a lot.

Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?

Willz: not yet.

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

Willz: Sometimes I don’t write I just be high and feeling like rapping about different stuff. My writing process, if i ever write is just to be in my zone. Off of something and just going in.

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

Willz: I would turn half into a whole million and fuck a day off.

Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?

Willz: Im working with logic and I send vocals to engineers. I plan upgrading one day.

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

Willz: Twitter & Facebook. Twitter works best.

Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?

Willz: In NY with Nas or Hov, In Cali with Pac if he was Alive.

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

Willz: Devil May Cry my project is due in 2016.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

Willz: Robbing people

Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?

Willz: My first album was giving to me and it was tupac all eyes on me. I was introduced into a New World

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

Willz: All I can do is try to compartmentalize everything.
