Vendredi sur Mer Announces North and South American Tour, New Single, and Celebrated Album “Malabar Princess”
Swiss artist Vendredi sur Mer has announced her long-awaited North and South American tour in support of her critically acclaimed third album, Malabar Princess, and her latest single, “Si t’étais là.” The tour marks a significant moment for the French-language pop artist, bringing her signature blend of dreamy synth-pop, poetic lyrics, and intimate soundscapes to audiences across the Atlantic.
The tour will launch on March 5th in Washington, DC, followed by performances in New York, Boston, Montreal, Toronto, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, before concluding in Mexico at the Foro Indie Rocks and C4 Stage festivals. It’s a major expansion for an artist whose appeal has steadily grown across Europe thanks to her distinct cinematic aesthetic and emotionally resonant songwriting.
Her album Malabar Princess captures the essence of her artistic evolution. Recorded during a writing residency in Montréal, the album is a return to the emotional honesty and sonic warmth of her earlier work. It features collaborations with pianist and composer Sofiane Pamart on the delicate piano-voice duet “Arrêter le temps”, as well as with Hanni El Khatib on the track “Hard”. Producers Sam Tiba, Adrien Gallo, and Owlle helped shape the album’s more organic, personal sound.
The title track, “Malabar Princess,” is a nostalgic reflection on her roots in Switzerland and the solace found in the Alpine landscapes of her youth. The album as a whole is a poetic journey, balancing vulnerability, memory, and identity, all wrapped in a sleek and modern French pop package.
Charline Mignot, the artist behind Vendredi sur Mer, began her creative journey in photography before transitioning into music. Her early releases, including Premiers émois (2019) and Métamorphose (2022), established her as a standout figure in the contemporary French pop scene. With Malabar Princess, she continues to push artistic boundaries while remaining grounded in a deeply personal narrative.
Her music is characterized by lush production, introspective lyricism, and a strong visual identity. Vendredi sur Mer bridges the elegance of classic French chanson with the boldness of 80s pop, all while bringing a distinctly modern sensibility to her work.
The upcoming tour not only supports her latest album and single but also marks a powerful new chapter in her international career.
