Belton Mouras, Jr., born in Northern California, was immersed in a vibrant world of creativity from an early age. Surrounded by the melodies of a musically gifted family, passionate animal lovers, and the rich storytelling traditions of Cajun culture, he embarked on a journey that would blend these influences into his life’s work. Starting early in his life with classical piano at five years old, Belton’s musical path evolved, taking a turn towards jazz in his late twenties, where he found a wonderful new channel of expression for his musical creations.
But music wasn’t his only outlet. Belton’s artistic expression also flourished on canvas, where he created over a hundred acrylic masterpieces. His artwork, often inspired by his love for animals and music, has captivated audiences at art shows, charity auctions, and private collections.
In late 2000, Belton released his first original music CD, showcasing his acoustic piano prowess. By 2005, his creativity led him into the world of film, where he not only composed music but also took on roles as a producer. His short films, rich with his unique artistic vision, have graced various film festivals throughout the world.
“Mickey’s Tree,” his debut independent film, marked a significant milestone. Mouras not only directed the film but also wrote the screenplay and composed the entire score. Its world premiere at the Palm Springs International Short Fest in 2022 and subsequent debut at the IMAX Theater in Sacramento were a testament to his multifaceted talent. Now available on Amazon Prime, the film continues to resonate with audiences.
In the past year, Belton Mouras Entertainment has achieved remarkable success. Three of his songs have soared into the top 100 on the Smooth Jazz Radio Chart, including the standout track “Under My Skin.” Recognized as one of Smooth Jazz Network Radio’s Breakout Artists of 2022, Belton’s hit “Mickey’s Swag” even reached #11 on The Cool Smooth Jazz Weekly Top Songs Chart in 2023. Additionally, three tracks from the “Mickey’s Tree” soundtrack have also made their mark on the Smooth Jazz Top 100 charts.
