Siren – February’s Son (Official Music Video)
“February’s Son” is a deeply personal tribute and a love song written to honor a wonderful soul taken too soon.
Singer Rob Phillips wrote the track for family member Reese Puckett, who passed away at age 20 due to fentanyl.
“It’s one of the most difficult songs I’ve ever written,” says Phillips. “My wife’s daughter lost her son, and we went to her home to comfort the family. I wrote this as a way to deal with the pain and senseless loss—a song for his family and friends to remember him by.”
While the subject matter was heavy, the recording process at Madison Studios felt natural and urgent. The band’s middle-America storytelling direction took on a life of its own during tracking, brought to completion by engineer Wyatt Oates.
Renowned Lyric Video Director Wayne Joiner—whose portfolio includes legendary acts such as Dream Theater, Kansas, Yes, Alter Bridge, and Creed—was brought in to create the visual for “February’s Son.” Given an empty canvas, Joiner captured the essence of the song through a magical narration of memories flowing from an ancient chest, perfectly mirroring the song’s emotional weight.
