Music Review for Rolf de Vries – David Guetta Cover
This is a pretty superb violin performance by any standards, and a massively effective and wonderful sounding cover of this particular song. The artist plays fluently and stylishly throughout the performance, taking on each riff and each melody and each key change as it were naturally a part of him. It’s exciting to hear this, because it’s so very different to the hugely and often purely electronic sound that this sort of music is normally expressed with. The ability to take part in it, and even enhance it, to a huge degree, is a beautiful thing.
This could stand well as an acoustic performance, in all honesty, without the backing track. Or even, alternatively, as part of a live band or orchestra – the possibilities for this as a live sound and performance are very exciting. In this case, the solo performance is flawless, and what makes it even more compelling to watch, is the smile on the artist’s face throughout the song – that love of music and creating music is clear, and that’s always a great thing to witness.
The violin sounds fantastic, there’s a power to it when used correctly that is difficult to replicate in electronic music. The real thing will always be leagues ahead of the alternative. This is the kind of artist worth subscribing to on Youtube and elsewhere, even if it’s just covers for the time being – it’s a fresh take on a popular sound, opening your mind to new realms of music. In the future there is sure to be a lot to look out for, exciting new covers, unexpected ones, or perhaps even original tracks. The artist has youth and a huge amount of energy and enthusiasm on his side, and it sounds great, it’s a pleasure to discover.
