Aaron Rizzo – 3AM “everything about the song works in unison”
I love this, the gentle rhythm and peaceful ambiance of it has a beautiful final quality that captivates and soothes. On top of this, that all important leading vocal, the thing that in certain instances can rob a wonderful backdrop of its beauty – in this case is just stunning. Subtly emotional and genuine, gentle when it needs to be, adding weight and passion as the music dictates. The underlying sentiment of the song is perfectly presented and expressed throughout. Even those purely melodic moments that focus on the sound of the voice alone rather than the lyrics are more than enough to compel and satisfy.
The great thing about this track is that even though it works brilliantly as it is, right from the start, there’s a huge level of creativity and variation as the whole thing develops and moves along. The production aspect takes full advantage of the power of structure within a three to four minute listening space, and so does the vocal driving the heart of the song’s concept. That initial rhythm and perhaps jazz-cafe inspired musicality pays further tribute to the classics and the core of the genre from way back when, veering off eventually in some unexpected yet beautifully artistic and expressive direction.
The additional instrumental moments are subtle yet effective in adding to that atmosphere and growth. The final few moments of vocal melody are beautiful, everything about the song works in unison – the voice and the surrounding instruments seem authentically tied to each other, so the movement is blissful, it strikes as a wave of united audio and emotion that is just mesmerizing to witness. Successfully fusing creativity with talent and professionalism, everything is exactly as it needs to be, and yet nothing is predictable. I look forward to hearing more.
