Magazine Gap ‘In Two Minds’ [Official Music Video PRE-RELEASE]
Magazine Gap are a band from London who have developed a unique sound through combining a range of popular genres including pop/soul/funk/rock.
They have been critically acclaimed for powerful vocals, exceptional musicianship, clever songwriting, classy production, and electric live performances. They have toured around the world, including across the UK & Ireland, the United States and the Far East, as well as on the main stage at the world’s most eclectic music festival, Montreux.
They have also performed on BBC Radio London, Cambridgeshire and Norwich. The band has built up a considerable following around the world on social media, notably on YouTube with over 750,000 views.
This single, ‘In Two Minds‘, is the title track from their album and is three and a half minutes of classily constructed and exquisitely performed rock. The overall vibe has the smoky, late-night feel of the instrumental sections of Hendrix’s Electric Ladyland. Keen’s leading vocal is sensational! It’s distinctive and emotive vocals making a strong impression on the first listen. Take some country, mix in just a bit of soul vibe and just a tint of piano and strings and you get this stunning performance.
I also took a listen to their 2016 release of an excellent upbeat pop/rock/dance hybrid titled ‘Body Language’ that is suitable both for the clubs and radio, with the catchy chorus making it particularly suitable for the latter. Having already amassed a considerable fan-base, I think its only a matter of time before ‘Magazine Gap‘ breaks through to the upper echelons of the pop charts with songs as good as this. I also took not of a couple of very accomplished pieces of modern funk rock, faultlessly played, recorded, mixed and produced – Titled ‘Calling Card’ and ‘What’s That About?
It is refreshing and edifying to hear that this kind of music is still being made in an era of dwindling sales and closing music studios, but there will always be a demand for quality among true music aficionados and I look forward to hearing the rest of the album.
