“Hope” by Sola Avis: A Resilient Anthem
Sola Avis’ latest track, Hope, captures the spirit of resilience with heartfelt lyrics and a soulful melody. The song opens with a poignant line,
“Rising From The Ashes Like A Phoenix Fire, You thought You Broke My Wings, But I’ll Fly Again If I Have Hope,” setting the stage for a journey through adversity and the power of perseverance.
The production of Hope is both lush and minimalistic, allowing Sola Avis’ emotive voice to shine through. The instrumentation provides a gentle yet powerful backdrop, enhancing the emotional depth of the song without overshadowing its message.
Lyrically, the song is a testament to the human spirit. Each verse is crafted with care, portraying a narrative of overcoming struggles and finding light in the darkest moments. This makes Hope relatable to anyone who has faced challenges and sought solace in hope.
Overall, Hope is a beautifully crafted piece that stands out for its sincerity and emotional resonance. Sola Avis has created a song that not only speaks to the heart but also uplifts the soul. Her ability to translate deep emotions into music is what sets her apart in today’s industry.

We had the opportunity to speak with Sola about her influences, creative process, and what’s next for her career.
Exposed Vocals: Your musical journey has taken you from Poland to London and back. How have these different cultural and musical environments influenced your sound and songwriting?
Sola Avis: I spent quite some time living in England. This had a significant impact on my life in general. It broadened my horizons. It provided me with many experiences and this in itself has hugely contributed to my songwriting. I believe that life experiences are incredibly important to the creative process as they make you think. Your brain starts to analyze certain events and comes up with ideas which you then (sometimes subconsciously) put into your creations.
When it comes to influencing my sound though, I don’t think that the UK experience was particularly important. In Poland, we do listen to a lot of Western music and Polish music is heavily influenced by it, so I don’t think there is a huge difference here, especially when it comes to the pop/rock genre. Moving to London definitely created many more opportunities for me though, as it is a much more vibrant music scene with musicians from all over the world. This definitely adds to your creativity and also helps you with your musical projects from a practical point of view as you have many more musicians available, more producers to choose from, etc.
However, being back in Poland now, I can see that the musical landscape has improved significantly compared to some years ago when I was just at the beginning of my musical journey. It is much richer now. I am very excited about the prospects here.
Exposed Vocals: At the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance, you discovered your talent for songwriting. Can you tell us about that moment and how it shaped your approach to music?
Sola Avis: I have always been very musical, but for a long time, I saw myself primarily as a singer. I perceived songwriting as something that would require specific skills, so I didn’t even attempt to really do it. I remember coming up with one or two tunes when I was around 11 or 12, but I wouldn’t exactly call these short compositions songs. At the time, singing seemed simply enough for me. I did feel, however, that I lacked the musical knowledge which would allow me to communicate better with other musicians. I simply did not understand the language of music. And that was one of the reasons I decided to start my studies at The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance. Songwriting was one of the subjects covered there.

Once I knew the basics of songwriting, it was very easy for me to write different tunes. It seemed to come to me quite naturally. Melodies just started flowing in, asking to be written into a song. It felt like opening a box that had always been there and only the key was missing. Gaining the skills and knowledge helped me unlock this potential, and I have enjoyed it ever since. I get such great satisfaction every time I manage to write something that I consider to be fairly decent.
Exposed Vocals: You’ve worked with Clive Scott from Jigsaw, a band known for its success in the ‘60s and ‘70s. What was that experience like, and did it impact your own musical style?
Sola Avis: It was a while back, during my first years in London. My then-management agency introduced me to Mr. Scott. I recorded one of my first compositions at his studio in Ascot. I was greatly impressed by his skills, the recording quality, and the speed at which he worked. We managed to finish the recording in under five hours. He was one of the best, if not the best, producers I have had the pleasure to work with so far.
Exposed Vocals: Your first album, 3 Bottles of Champagne, had a glamorous, retro jazz-pop feel, while Denial leaned into a rock sound. What inspired such a dramatic shift in genre?
Sola Avis: When I started writing, I didn’t have any specific genre in mind. I simply let the melodies flow. My first songs turned out to be quite jazzy, and that’s why my first album, 3 Bottles of Champagne, had this type of vibe. I was still exploring at the time, trying to find my own style. Although most songs on this particular album had a jazzy feeling to them, there was one that was more contemporary. It was called “Chasing the Wind,” and this song enjoyed the most popularity. This inspired me to write more similar tunes.
The songs I wrote for my second album, Denial, were written over a longer period of time. They all have a common theme and speak about everyday struggles, overcoming barriers and our own limitations, but also about accepting things that cannot be changed and still moving forward with hope, wiser for the lessons learned on our journey.
Exposed Vocals: Your recent single Hope took you to the semifinals of Una Voce Per San Marino. What was the experience like competing in Eurovision’s selection process?
Sola Avis: I am really grateful I had this opportunity. It was a valuable experience. I found it to be quite a demanding exercise. The competition was strong, and I had to put a lot of effort into my performance preparations. This experience has renewed my respect for all fellow artists trying to succeed. There is a lot of talent out there.
Exposed Vocals: Now that you’re back in Poland and working with a band, what can fans expect from your upcoming music? Will it continue in the rock direction, or are you exploring new sounds?
Sola Avis: I am planning to release two to three more songs this year. One has a definite pop/rock sound to it, but the second one, which I intend to release this autumn, has a bluesy feeling, so yes, I am exploring new sounds. Overall, though, pop/rock will remain my main style.

Exposed Vocals: Looking ahead, what are your biggest goals for the next phase of your career? Are there any dream collaborations or milestones you’re aiming for?
Sola Avis: As I have mentioned, my plan is to release at least a couple more singles this year. In the near future, I also wish to focus more on live performances and promotional activities so my music can reach a wider audience.
My experiences so far have taught me that the road to success is not an easy path. It requires consistent effort, commitment, and constant drive for improvement, and there are no shortcuts. I want to now start paying more attention to my actual musical journey rather than the destination by taking small but firm steps rather than big but shaky jumps. My long-term goal is to simply become the best I can be in this field.
