Bad Bunny Releases New Album ‘Debí Tirar Más Fotos’ – A Love Letter to Puerto Rico
Bad Bunny, the global reggaeton superstar, has kicked off 2025 with the release of his highly anticipated sixth studio album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos, on January 5, 2025. The album has already garnered critical acclaim for its deeply personal themes, blending traditional Puerto Rican sounds with modern reggaeton, house, and Latin trap influences.
A Tribute to Puerto Rico
Unlike his previous projects, Debí Tirar Más Fotos is an album steeped in nostalgia and cultural pride. The album cover features two Monobloc chairs placed on a dirt-and-grass field with banana trees in the background—imagery that strongly resonates with Puerto Rico’s rural and everyday life.
Bad Bunny has described the album as a “love letter” to his homeland, featuring musical styles like plena, jíbaro, and salsa intertwined with his signature reggaeton beats. Songs like Mi Tierra Llora and Bajo las Estrellas evoke a sense of longing for simpler times, while tracks like Calle de Mi Corazón bring a more upbeat, celebratory feel.
Collaboration and Innovation
The album features collaborations with artists such as Tego Calderón, Residente, Rauw Alejandro, and Ivy Queen, uniting past and present generations of Puerto Rican music. Production credits include Tainy, MAG, and Luny Tunes, ensuring an innovative yet deeply rooted sound.
In addition, Bad Bunny partnered with University of Wisconsin-Madison professor Jorell Meléndez-Badillo to create 17 educational videos about Puerto Rico’s history, which accompany the album. This initiative showcases his dedication to cultural preservation and education.
Chart Success and Reception
Within hours of its release, Debí Tirar Más Fotos debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart and quickly climbed the Spotify Global Top 50. Critics have praised the album for its sincerity and artistic growth, with Rolling Stone calling it “Bad Bunny’s most introspective and culturally rich work to date.”
Upcoming Residency in Puerto Rico
As part of his album promotion, Bad Bunny announced a 30-date residency at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico, titled No Me Quiero Ir de Aquí. The residency, running from July to September 2025, marks a historic moment as the first-ever concert residency held in Puerto Rico.
With Debí Tirar Más Fotos, Bad Bunny continues to push boundaries while honoring his roots, proving why he remains one of the most influential artists in the Latin music industry today.
