Beyoncé’s Flying Car Has ‘Technical Mishap,’ Tilting Mid-Air at Cowboy Carter Stop in Houston
Beyoncé was soaring above a crowd in her hometown of Houston, Texas, when her aerial car, a prop for her Cowboy Carter tour, began to tilt during her performance of “16 Carriages” on a Saturday night at NRG Stadium.
Suspended in the red car in mid-air, Beyoncé maintained her composure and continued singing the Cowboy Carter ballad until she directed her crew to halt the performance with repeated shouts of “stop.” Fan concerns over the tilted car’s appearance, particularly evident from certain angles in the stadium, could be seen in video footage shared by attendees.
In fan-captured clips from the concert, Beyoncé remained composed, offering a smile while waiting for the car to be lowered to the ground.
“If ever I fall, I know ya’ll catch me,” she joked to the audience upon her safe return to solid ground on stage.
“Ain’t got time to waste, I got art to make/ I got love to create on this holy night/ They won’t dim my light, all these years I fight,” she sang as she resumed the song.
Beyoncé’s Parkwood Entertainment issued a statement following the show regarding the incident.
“Tonight in Houston, at NRG Stadium, a technical mishap caused the flying car, a prop Beyonce uses to circle the stadium and engage with her fans up close, to tilt. She was promptly lowered, and no injuries were reported. The show continued seamlessly,” Parkwood shared in an Instagram Story posted early Sunday morning.
“16 Carriages” serves as the second-to-last track on Beyoncé’s standard Cowboy Carter Tour set list.
The show, spanning approximately three hours, commenced in late April and is scheduled to conclude by the end of July. Beyoncé will grace the stage once more at Houston’s NRG Stadium on Sunday night.
