Sabrina Carpenter’s ‘Manchild’ Hits No. 1 in U.K., Ousts Alex Warren After 12 Weeks at Summit
Sabrina Carpenter’s “Manchild” ended Warren’s streak with 6.8 million streams in its debut week. The song, accompanied by a playful video, was released on June 5th and will be part of Carpenter’s upcoming album Man’s Best Friend, set for release on August 29th. This marks Carpenter’s fourth UK No. 1 single in just over a year, following hits like “Espresso,” “Please Please Please,” and “Taste.”
Warren’s “Ordinary” had reigned supreme for 12 consecutive weeks, setting several records during its run. The track became the longest-running No. 1 of the 2020s and the longest streak by a U.S. male solo artist in history, surpassing Slim Whitman’s record from 1955. Despite dropping to No. 2 this week, “Ordinary” first claimed the top spot back in March and will be included on Warren’s debut album You’ll Be Alright, Kid.
Other familiar tunes occupy the rest of the top five, with Ravyn Lenae’s “Love Me Not” at No. 3, Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” at No. 4, and Sombr’s “Undressed” slipping to No. 5 while “Back to Friends” climbs to No. 7, achieving a new peak.
Ed Sheeran extends his chart dominance with “Sapphire,” marking his 65th UK top 40 single at No. 9. The track will be featured on his forthcoming album Play, while his previous releases “Azizam” (No. 10) and “Old Phone” (No. 33) also make appearances on this week’s charts.
Following Olivia Dean’s collaboration with Sam Fender at his recent London Stadium show, Dean’s “Nice to Each Other” sees the biggest jump of the week, climbing 10 spots to reach No. 18. Addison Rae’s “Fame is a Gun” rises to No. 23, with her album Addison landing at No. 2 on the Official Albums Chart.
