Tupac was killed by accident in “botched assassination”
The former boss of Death Row Records – who was with 2pac the night he was murdered – has reportedly backed a new documentary about the killing.
The film Tupac Assassination: Battle for Compton suggests Knight – who is behind bars awaiting a separate murder trial – was the real target of the drive-by.
It claims other senior Death Row executives were trying to bump off Knight, 50, so they could take over the record label.
All Eyez on Me rapper Tupac was killed by accident in the botched assassination.
Knight – who made a fortune after founding Death Row with Dr Dre and launching Snoop Dogg’s career – was in the car with Tupac when he was gunned in Las Vegas in 1996.
The former bodyguard – who allegedly once dangled Vanilla Ice off a balcony by his feet – was hit by glass and shrapnel.
He has always refused to identify the shooter.
But the filmmakers behind Tupac Assassination said the larger than life businessman has given their documentary the thumbs up.
Knight’s lawyer Thaddeus Culpepper said the account was true.
A spokesman said: “Culpepper told [director Michael] Carlin individually that not only did Knight confirm the events as portrayed in [the film] Compton, which portray Knight was the intended target and Shakur as collateral damage, as true, but also goes on to allege that these 1996 events may have been the first in a history of attempts on Knight’s life.”
Retired LAPD detective Greg Kading claims 2Pac was the victim of a contract killing ordered by Puff Daddy last year.
But author John Potash says he was assassinated by the CIA, who feared he was politicising street gangs.
A wacky conspiracy theory suggests he is still alive – and living in Cuba.
Knight is awaiting trial for the alleged murder of his pal Terry Carter and attempted murder of Cle Sloan.
