“track screams originality”‘Lyrical Suspence’ & ‘Jahred Gomes’ – Firebreather
Everything about this track screams originality; the backing track alone has this minimal yet dark and industrial wave to it, and the music throughout is consistently creative, experimental, and never predictable. The leading rap vocal provides a thread for listeners to cling to throughout, the familiar sound of the voice expresses the inner character of the artist performing, and so there’s a humanness to the mix that is always important. But, this industrial element is a big deal, the music takes a little touch of distorted attitude and presents it in the form of these very specific and striking synth-like riffs.
What you also get from the track is the change and the evolution that occurs right the way through. The varying voices, the changing characters, the accents, and indeed the rhythm of the vocal parts at times when a hook or key idea is necessary. In this respect the track has fused memorable creativity with effective structuring, so you don’t forget the recording anytime soon after listening. To listen loud is to truly get the full effect, and production wise everything is well placed so that this is possible.
The performances are equally relevant to the themes. There’s a lot of angst in the vocal performance, in the instrumentation, and indeed in the lyrics, and so everything involved in making this recording what it is is undoubtedly on the same page – despite the constant change and evolution, there is definitely consistency here; that necessary thread. For all of these reasons and more the track holds great appeal. Some of the lyrics do admittedly slip by unnoticed at first glance, but that’s to be expected in first time listeners, and partly it’s due to the interesting and fresh nature of the instrumentation.
