Top Notch by Young Swag (Prod. by The Programmer)
Young Swag is an upcoming and extremely powerful yet humble and dedicated hip hop artist that has the creativity, talent, motivation and drive to rival most artists that have been in the industry for years. Moreover, his music and lyrics are as diverse as night and day which shows the amount of courage and boldness that is desired by rap music lovers, moreover, music lovers in general. His music and lyrics, like all rap music and artists display true to life storylines, backgrounds and situations.
The initial spoken introduction is the focus of the featured track Top Notch. ‘These dreams are better… everybody got dreams…’ The featured track begins with organ synthesizer which carries a ‘no-nonsense’ and intriguing vibe. The percussions are smooth, which also resemble the echoing sounds of war and battle. Which ironically everyone faces in their lifetime at one point or another.
The periodic gongs that come in after every eight count are an awakening indication and add to the dynamic effect. 51 seconds into the song there is a few seconds break of a familiar speech given that has been used by previous artists of the past. It is a welcomed addition and gives the track a feel of remembrance, bringing the listener into a realization that things won’t change unless action is taken. Remaining focused by every means necessary is still the main focus.
The lyrics are explicit and give the track the no nonsense vibe that it has. Yet it can be said that most people, both men and women have experienced and are experiencing the drive to become Top Notch at what they do whatever it is they may do. Being Top Notch should be the focus for everyone trying to reach their goals, which is the undertone of the bottom line.
Overall, the rhythm is dope. The lyrics are bold and the artist performance on the video shows that they’re in it to win it and a whole lot more. Look forward to a magnificent upcoming year for Young Swag. I have the feeling that this artist is headed straight for greatness.
