“There’s a lot of clever wordplay” Verbally Diseased – Inherit The Earth
This track has a beautiful vibe to it instantly, and the mood remains calm and fulfilling throughout. The musical backdrop is that alternative jazz or trip-hop style with a very light and easy to chill out to sort of beat. The leading rap vocal has a great sound, a great flow that fits the rhythm and feel of the music brilliantly. Much more than this though, the lyrics are massively unique, fresh, unusual and captivating. Each and every line is destined to be something you haven’t quite heard before.
The poetry of the performance is sublime, and the underlying concept is so much more interesting than a lot of the more average themes touched upon in hip-hop a lot of the time.
The track is interesting, it paints a vivid and new picture with its lyricism, the music too and the overall soothing vibe of the experience has a positive and uplifting effect. The track sounds something like peace, the words have a confidence and style to them as they are presented, and the whole thing leaves a lasting effect on you after listening. Without a doubt, the prospect of hearing more music from the artists behind this one is exciting. Every moment is brand new, yet the ambiance set by everything involved has a wonderful shine to it that is all at once familiar and rare.
It’s a great combination, and it makes you want to listen to the whole thing more than once to make sure you didn’t miss anything important or interesting. There’s a lot of clever wordplay and some striking ideas that are refreshing to come across, particularly when surrounded by such a vintage sounding array of music and instrumentation. It works really well, everything about it makes it stand out from the crowd.
