The Crazies Come Out by Lunar Sky ft. Ilana Tarutina review
Lunar Sky are an electronica/dance duo specializing in house/trance, consisting of Charles Rain and Jonathan Stillman a.k.a.. PANIC STATE and KAHN, the producer monikers they go by. They make high energy house in the style of Armin Van Buuren and Avicii (before his recent country crossover period) and this track, The Crazies Come Out, is a perfect example of their sound.

Starting with a pounding four to the floor kick and a light, bouncy synth riff the track builds gradually for a minute before the amazing voice of guest vocalist Ilana Tarutina enters the fray. Her vocals begin with the very catchy chorus and are augmented by an equally infectious synth riff, the huge, fizzy sounding type that typifies the genre. She gives a powerhouse performance with a huge vocal range reminiscent of Beyonce and really helps bring the track to life.
A busier beat starts to emerge in the second half that brought to mind the acid house classic NRG by Adamski. As with any good house track, the music contains plenty of rises and climaxes, and the build at around the three minute mark is one of the most exciting and intense I’ve heard in an EDM track for a long time. The track is very well produced, with the fundamentally important kick drum always cutting through, a must for the dancefloor.
Overall, this is a very catchy and commercial track that fits in well with the current trend for more song-orientated house tracks that are bringing EDM to an ever growing audience, due to the increased mainstream radio play. Lunar Sky should hopefully be able to ride the crest of this wave and, with the right exposure, should make a big impact on the scene.
