“something like an apocalyptic soundscape” HdeeHdee – Willy
The track comes across as something like an apocalyptic soundscape, rather than a song. The production is experimentally creative in all possible ways, there is no concern for structure or melody or any notable hook, it’s more of a listening experience than a piece of background music. There’s a high level of intensity throughout the recording, and this holds your attention surprisingly well. The leading vocal with its spoken word expression is hugely passionate, and alongside of the whirlpool of sounds and synths and reverb it makes for something quite striking.

There’s definitely a certain beauty to the backdrop, it’s dreamlike in many ways, and the spoken word makes you want to listen and gives off the impression of something important being said. It is unfortunately quite difficult to pick out the lyrics at first, though having said unfortunately, the intensity of the sound makes you listen regardless, and your mind essentially fills in the gaps with whatever it conjures up during the experience. The vocal breakaway at the half way point is a strange moment of spiralling, echoing escapism, and this greatly enhances the effect of the mix and the explicit creativity in the production.

When the spoken word eventually returns, there’s even more of an inclination to listen now, though this time it feels a little more personal – as if you’re listening in on some private conversation, kind of like a fly on the wall. There’s a lot left to the imagination, but the effect brings about intrigue, rather than frustration, so there’s a lot to be said for the unusual and powerful nature of the sound. As an introductory piece of music, it’s a strong work of art, likely to intrigue listeners enough to seek out more music from the artists involved. Unusual is good, particularly when it’s done in such a professional and creatively free manner.
