From there she racked up regular gigs singing the national anthem for top-ranked boxing matches featuring the likes of Manny Pacquiao. Then, after releasing two back-to-back solo albums on her own label and getting airplay on multiple platforms like iTunes, Amazon, MTV and internet radio, she was cast on the Fox reality show “Paradise Hotel 2.”
Chelsea was ready to take her career to the next level, but felt conflicted. The pressure to conform to the blonde, bikini-clad image of so many American female pop acts was ever present; yet her conservative, Eastern upbringing made her resistant to revealing her sexy side. With so few Asian faces in the music industry, and her own modesty to contend with, Chelsea harbored doubts about her ability fit into the mainstream music world.
Then, out of the blue, George Brown was back. The legendary producer who had given Chelsea a shot a few years earlier, was looking to develop top talent for his brand-new Astana Music Productions / Label. He offered Chelsea a record deal in the spring of 2017 and the two got busy charting new territory in the studio.
The result is Chelsea’s new single “King Size” – a shout out to her newfound freedom of expression – both musically and sexually. Chelsea credits George with “coaxing her out of the closet” and giving her the freedom and confidence to let go and be her authentic self.
