Rogez – Chip (Mixtape)
This collection from Rogez features a number of different artists but primarily showcases a creative and professionally crafted project. It offers some great vibes and some commendable ideas relevant to anyone looking for something a little fresh or inspiring. On the other hand, there are some classic moments of jazz infused hip-hop that simply allow listeners to switch off and relax to some easy going music.

There’s a consistently high level of production to the tracks on the music, and where melody and concept perhaps fall behind, the production and the fills between hooks work brilliantly in keeping your attention. The rap vocal on track two of the collection for example, comes as a welcome break from the melodic hook, and also introduces a little more space within the track to appreciate the craft work of the musical backdrop. There are some vintage, retro instrumental moments used throughout the collection, and this fuses well with the crisp vocal recordings and the mellow or down tempo hip-hop beats. It adds a unique sense of character that reminds you of the artists behind the project and helps keep things fresh.
The creativity throughout the project is one of its strongest elements, and that’s a great thing to run with, particularly considering the high volume of music being put out across the world on a daily basis. Originality is important, but it’s not something that can be forced or faked, it has to be just you being you. On occasion the creative mix within this collection is so unusual that it mesmerises, but following on from it there’s always a return to the rhythm, the good vibes, the music. There’s a peaceful level of ambience from time to time that fits in well with the overall energy of the project.
