New Video – Elijah Blake “Technicolor”
The lead single “Technicolor” with accompanying visuals, is paving the way for the R&B, funk and pop-infused project ‘Audiology’, the sophomore release from singer/songwriter Elijah Blake. The artist bares it all in this 14-track set, issued via Steel Wool Entertainment/Empire, and signals Blake as coming full circle with his return to the independent ranks. Today (Sept. 27), Blake premieres his new video for “Technicolor,” on Billboard where he salutes a slew of iconic visuals from the ’80s from Janet Jackson’s “Rhythm Nation” to Bobby Brown’s “Every Little Step”, MJ’s “The Way You Make Me Feel” and Prince’s “When Doves Cry.”
‘Audiology’ is the follow-up to Blake’s critically acclaimed debut album on Def Jam, Shadows & Diamonds. That 2015 set yielded the singer’s top 25 R&B/hip-hop hit “I Just Wanna …” featuring Dej Loaf. Between writing songs for a host of artists including Usher, Rihanna, Trey Songz, Common and, of late, Keyshia Cole and Chris Brown, Blake started building his own fan base as an artist with his 2012 debut mixtape ‘Bijoux 22’. His catalog also includes two EP’s, 2014’s ‘Drift’ and 2016’s ‘Blueberry Vapors’.

If Blake’s name isn’t immediately recognizable, chances are his songs are. Signed to his first record deal at age 16, his writing credits include Rihanna’s “No Love Allowed,” Justin Bieber’s “I Would” and Usher’s Grammy-winning “Climax.” But after a decade of penning hits for other artists, Blake finally felt prepared to release a solo endeavor drawing from both personal and professional experiences. “I make music for the misfits. I want to continue the legacy of the unorthodox, fearless non-stereotypical black male. I want to be vulnerable, I want to be truthful and I want to be fearless.”
After making his living mostly behind the scenes, the musician is finally ready to embrace solo stardom as an independent artist, if that is what “Audiology” may bring. “It’s leaving a piece of my DNA on each song and getting through to people who I really am. The only thing that scares me now is to not walk in my calling and not walk in my purpose.”
