Fate Under Fire, a radio-ready pop-rock group who is on the cusp of making big things happen is full of feel good-irresistible tunes, but what is deeper than all the catchy melodies and memorable hooks is that Fate Under Fire is a band that has a very serious and important message. And it’s no gimmick, either, largely focusing on cancer research and alternative remedies, after lead singer and founding member David James lost his mother to ovarian cancer. Now in support of the video release for “Parachute”, the California band is launching the the video in conjunction with a benefit concert for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP).
Singer/Songwriter David James, Fate Under Fire has found success in the Indie/pop landscape. Music had always been a huge part of David’s life, but after a significant loss, he turned to music as a release and began to pursue his life long dream. Fate Under Fire spent their first few months writing new material and playing shows around their hometown of Sacramento, California. Their self produced debut EP; ‘The Simple Things’ was released in the spring of 2009. Fate Under Fire then signed with Right Brain Management. With the support of Right Brain, they embarked on their inaugural west coast tour. During this time James met fellow musician, John Gillis. James and Gillis instantly clicked, and since the formation of this partnership, the band has grown their presence online and in person.
After a successful run of west coast shows, Fate Under Fire immediately hit the studio to work on new music. After finding a breath of fresh air in their music journey, they recorded the massively successful single, ‘On The Water’. Following the recording of ‘On The Water’, a subsequent music video was filmed, a first for the band.
oming off the continued success of ‘On The Water, Fate Under Fire began working on their second EP, ‘What Dreams Are Made Of’. After many months in the studio, the EP was released in June of 2014.’What Dreams Are Made Of’ was produced by singer/songwriter David James and ZOOmania’s Jeremy Smith. The EP was mixed by Eric Robinson (Taylor Swift, Natasha Bedingfield, Brooke Fraser) and mastered by Eric Boulanger (One Republic, Plain White Ts, Colbie Caillat). The album proudly boasts six songs that feature the band’s signature chants, big drums and pop vocal sound.
