Music Review- In The Stars – I’ll Wait For You
The track sounds great – it teases you at the start with this gentle, atmospheric guitar riff; a gorgeous riff in fact, and a vocal harmony soaked sound-scape. Then pretty swiftly it kicks in, big time, with a classic rock bang – a quality melody with quick fire lyrics and storming drums, guitar, and effects. What I mean about the lyrics is that there is so much going on within the lines, it’s almost like a rap, but it’s sung so confidently and flawlessly – a really handsome and smart sounding lead vocal – it’s great, it fits so brilliantly within the music and melody.
It’s actually that kind of vocal melody and lyricism that makes you want to read all the words, learn them as quickly as possible so you can sing along – just like back in the day, when we’d sit and read the lyrics sleeve to the new CD we’d saved up for and finally bought.
Production wise everything seems to be pretty on point and well-polished. Musically as well, everything is so well played, it’s hard to grasp at first quite what the feeling is within the song, but I get the impression there’s a lot of emotion behind all of the music and the lyrics. Every now and then you get a hint of this particular mood or tone, it’s hard to pinpoint, but what it does is separate this from a lot of other full throttle melodic rock songs. It’s a great touch.
The whole track has quite a strong feeling of nostalgia and homeliness to it, but it isn’t really anything to do with familiarity – I think it’s genuinely really well written, so even after just one listen, you feel like it’s a hit that’s been around for years. It gets caught in your head, and it’s great to really listen to it, everything builds up in a subtle yet somehow all-encompassing manner. Not something you can just put on in the background and ignore; you’d feel a little like you were missing out on something if you tried.
