Music Review for “Trap door” by ‘Through the Enemy”
Through th Enemy formed in early 2008 in Weymouth, MA, a suburb of Boston
After playing together for years, Paul Andersen (Bass), Matt Nicastro (Guitar), and Brad Snowdale (Vocals/Guitar) joined with local drummer Stefan Provost because of their similar influences from a variety of artists from the 1990’s and 2000’s.
They immediately clicked and began creating a tight and original style, enabling them to create enough songs within two months to play their first show. While continuing to perform, they compiled their first self-titled album in 2012.
They quickly became known for their loud and captivating live shows which helped them obtain a growing and dedicated fan base. They continue to write songs and strive to reach greater audiences.
Trap door Music Review
Boston has a thriving music community with tons of shows and opportunities for artists at a range of levels. Which includes several genres of rock. So, let’s talk about TTE, a four-piece rock band hailing from Boston, MA.
In an age of gimmicky music videos, ‘Through the Enemy’ beautiful performance video (above) of their new track, “Trap Door” is as refreshing as a glass of ice water on a hot summer day. In a song both contemplative and hopeful, Brad Snowdale’s guitar and vocals is a lovely musical anchor that allows Paul Andersen (Bass), Matt Nicastro’s Guitar riffs to dance and soar while remaining as intricately wound as their harmonioussynchronization.
Two parts mythic adventure, one part pure escapism, this song hooks you from the first twang of the slide guitar. Lead singer Brad Snowdale imbues poetic lyrics with equal parts grit and soul and leads listeners down an enthralling rabbit hole.
Overall, this is a well written and performed modern rock song that feels just the right length and makes for a strong track. They combine their influences to great effect and make a great noise together. This is the kind of band that builds up a huge devoted following through performing live shows and you can see that already starting to happen. I look forward to hearing future tracks/albums from them.
