Music Review for Jessica Shores Monica Lewinsky
This track is a lot of fun; good vibes, good horn sections and a big bass-heavy beat. The artist has a lot of character and humour in her lyrics, but also a lot of sharp lines and some cool and witty moments. The video that goes with it is equally fun and lets you get a real glimpse of the artist and her character and style, so together the two elements of visual and audio really work well together. That backing track horn riff properly gets caught in your mind and stays with you long after you’ve listened, which is always a great effect and a great way of making people remember your music and associating the sound and style with you and your art.
Jessica Shore’s voice has a certain tone and style to it that is fairly unique and new sounding, so although the flow and the hip-hop style is nothing new in itself, the sound is fresh, and the style, the fusing of hip-hop, good vibes, satire, is all pretty now sounding and not currently being done by a lot of artists in such a way. I’d look out for more tracks from J Sho, the vibe is good, serious but easy going sound to the leading vocal, great music behind it, good rhythms. She’s not afraid to be herself and do her thing, and that’s hugely important and commendable.
The Monica Lewinsky hook is another thing that you categorically won’t forget any time soon, so the artist has done a lot to put her stamp on this and to make sure you know who she is. It’s pretty clever and effective writing, extremely catchy, you can’t help but find yourself singing along a little towards the end. There’s a lot that is good about this track and the artist has paved the way for herself to write a lot more music and experiment with performance and writing a little more in the future.
