Music Review for Final Draft’s “For You” Single
There aren’t a lot of bands around lately that create under the classic sort boy band sound and image, so it’s refreshing to see these guys doing their thing – with an added bit of style, genuine sounding emotion, and all round beautiful voices. The song is wonderful – the structure and the sound is sort of half classic r&b, half modern pop ballad. There’s a lot about it that is new and unexpected, the key change from the first voice to the second – so early in the song, it’s a great move, from a song writing perspective, as it kicks in just in time to make sure your attention is still held by the song. The singing is sensational, and as mentioned – the emotion is clear, it sounds genuine, it makes the performances thoroughly soulful, and the harmonies and moments of choir like performances add even more beauty to that mix.
The style has a lot of familiarity to it, but that structure is something completely new, and what’s more – every voice involved has something quite fresh about it. There’s no point at which you listen and think, ‘this sounds like someone..’. It’s great to bring back a pop formula that has always worked in the past, but even better when the artist’s go ahead and put their own stamp on the whole thing, by writing a song that doesn’t fall into the classic verse – chorus – verse – chorus – bridge – structure. It’s also a great pleasure to hear these new voices, presented in a mix that has been produced to really bring out the seductive and smooth tones in the voices – really helping enhance that whole emotional element.
The melody isn’t massively memorable, but neither is it forgettable – the track is a pleasure to listen to, so you’re likely to come back and listen again, at which point you would start to remember the notes and the melodies used, and that’s about the time you turn from audience member to fan.
