Music Review for “Bottle Girl” by Fate
This track features an unusual yet effective fusion of genres and cultures. The oriental sound-scape created at the start adds a really unique and interesting dynamic to what could otherwise be just another hip-hop track. It’s genuinely not just another hip-hop track though, the hook is fairly flawlessly executed, enough times to make it count, not too often to make it hugely repetitive. The whole ‘Bottle Girl’ concept is quite unique as well, you won’t forget the name of the track, nor the sound of the hook, and hopefully not the artist.
From an audience perspective the track has a lot going for it to make it stand out, and then at it’s core, it is a genuinely effective hip-hop track with an added twist of alternative culture. The production is not as bass heavy as some other hip-hop tracks around at the moment, which actually makes a really listenable change. The music focuses on bringing out the best in the voices, which portray consistently confident and passionate performances throughout, and it also brings those musical characteristics right out into the spotlight – so you hear the fusion, you hear the culture, you hear the optimism, and you hear that passion, as mentioned, when you listen to the lyrics and the vocal presentation.
Aside from it’s unique perspective, this track is essentially a well put together hit for the weekend, for the summer, nights out, getting listeners geared up for the good times. It’s upbeat enough to put you in the right kind of mood, and yet not overly fast or musically heavy – there’s no overuse of sounds or effects, everything sits well together, to build just enough of a scene that you feel involved and ready to hear more music. Hopefully it’s one that will make new listeners lock in and look for more tracks from the artist.
