Music Review and Interview with SNKPROD – Padawan
Great production on this track, it sounds smooth and well put together from the offset, even through sensitive headphones. The vibe is quite unusual, it’s got a certain darkness to it, a mellow and mysterious expression, which doesn’t really fade away or change at any point in the song. All in all in fact this one is a really short piece of music, when the vocal breaks away for the first time it feels like you’re just about to head into some instrumental bridge or mid-section, but in reality the song just ends there – I feel it could have been a little longer. It’s a stylish and enjoyable track to listen to, it puts you in a mellow and quite reflective mood.
It feels like a sort of after party hip-hop track in many ways, that late night early morning moment, those vibes that keep you calm and willing to carry on. What’s nice about it though is that there is none of the harshness or aggression that hip-hop with similar backing track vibes often brings to the table. There’s only the music, and this fairly addictive and catchy melody. Even the fusion of the voices and the softness of that lead adds another element of mystery and intrigue to the track. There’s nothing sharp or overly boisterous about it, which is nice to hear, but there is definitely a consistent aura of confidence and style to the performance.
That after party mood maker is a good thing to run with I think, you could hear the bass riff and melody of this track from a mile away, even within a noisy environment, and you’d pick up on it, you’d recognise it, and you’d feel the vibes and the energy and adjust your mood and your moment accordingly. It works well as that kind of group or gathering escapism.
