Music Review and Interview with KA$H – Just Sayin’
The opening riff has a lot on it’s side, there’s a very classic RnB vibe to the music that follows, the vocal effect is a little clichéd but the melody is quite catchy – the rise up to the high note at the end of each line has the effect of making it linger in your mind, which is always a strong point, and a simple way to make your track memorable. The further into the track you get the more enjoyable it is, the vibe is nice and chilled, the vocal effect still grates a little, but the verses adds an important dynamic and a break from that – the music during the verses is more enjoyable as well; the piano section is great, the summer time scene is set and it becomes a real piece of feel good music.
The varied voices featured in the verses is really effective, the different tones and styles, each with a fairly relevant and impressive flow, still nice and chilled, but completely in fitting with the track. It keeps it interesting in between choruses. The more you listen the more the instrumentation really stands out, and that piano riff, plus the riffs and melodies created by the synths and strings – just subtly heard in the backdrop – all build up a really smooth and positive sounding track.
The production is a real strong point, it’s well mixed and varied enough throughout that it doesn’t get too repetitive. A more creative effect on the vocals might have added a little bit of a fresh factor to the track, it would maybe give the artists involved a little bit of a signature sound, but as it’s only one track it would be worth hearing more from K$SH to see which directions the music and lyrics might go.
