Music Review and Interview with Boogie The Product A.K.A. The Fix
About Boogie The Product A.K.A. The Fix
“My government name is Ervin Boogie Estes, my stage name is Boogie The Product a.k.a. The Fix. I’m a writer, performer, Phenom! I truly feel my style is unlike no other. From my music to my lyrics, bound to catch your ear and put your body in motion. Far from the run of the mill. I’m a native of Lake Providence, Louisiana, raised in the Midwest (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) currently residing on the West Coast by the way of Los Angeles, California , very by coastal. I feel my music is a mixture of underground and mainstream, I think it relates to different personalities, my sound isn’t like anyone that’s in this machine called the music business. With looking to be a growing force on the business side of the music industry also. What made me want to have a career in music was my influences of all genres of music but more so soul from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, soul and hip-hop music that get you through the hard times, made you feel good and just related to real life and real human emotions.
Overall that’s what created the Product, because I’m only the product of my environment with a real fix of a sound that has been missing in the genre of Hip-Hop. I hope that I as an artist and creator can pull people back to good music, and real feelings. Ultimately I feel I’m the future if God permits. If I say I’m good you may call it being boastful, but if I say I’m no good, after hearing my sound, then you know I’m lying! I am Boogie The Product A.K.A. The Fix! Love, Live, Life. ((POWER))”
“BAD”
Los Angeles’s music scene is extremely diverse, to say the least, a daunting and dizzying beast! So let’s talk about Boogie The Product. He has developed in his music over the last few years combined with the fertile atmosphere created by local success stories like Kendrick Lamar and YG have made for an exceptionally promising start.
So let’s get right in to it! His hit single “bad” is a powerful, hard hitting track with a simple hook. It shows Boogie as an original voice on the hip hop scene both in terms of sound and the depth and variety of his lyrical content.
It is a medium-paced hip-hop track with a laid back, languorous groove. His rapping style on this track is confident and direct, with lines like:
“We duck’n every bullet they shoot / constantly laying…
“Brick after Brick over coming that situation… Do you see what you face’n?”
Overall, this is an inspiring and enjoyable hip-hop track that will be popular with L.A’s existing fanbase and should bring him some new ones. With strong production and a catchy, commercial hook it is also very well suited to radio. Couple that with a great video, and I think Boohie may have a hit on his hands!
… it won’t be long before he gets the recognition he deserves, from both the public as well as his hip hop peers, and he has the talent to stick around for a long time.

Exclusive Interview:
Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?
Boogie Tha Product: I heard about Exposed Vocals through word of mouth of comrades, and business minds alike. Through word of mouth of business folk and the work of my own team, of social media research looking to find the best sources through online promotion that best fits the betterment of Abstract Entertainment Inc.
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Boogie Tha Product: Well my story is not a short story, it’s still predestined. God is still working on this canvas of art, but I’m a native of the South. Specifically what part? Lake Providence, LA. By the way of Milwaukee, WI, til expanding to the West Coast (Los Angeles, CA). Well in my opinion, music is the expression of life. It’s just in me, a bloodline thing. A lot of musicians and different creators in my family tree from uncles to aunts, so it’s just destined for it to naturally be in me but other than that inspiration and a God-given talent to be expressive my way, with a unique and refreshing style that catches the eyes and ears of listeners and viewers.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Boogie Tha Product: Well I’ve always been a Pop cultured type of person. It came about from a lot of influences of movies, music, and films like Crush Groove, Above the Rim, New Jack City, Brown Sugar, Paid in Full, and Belly just to name a few! (laughing) To elaborate more on your question, with those influences from the 80s and late 90s toward the new millennium around the time I actually started rhyming around 17 or 18. Those influences through those years along with having the streets give me the name “Boogie” because of how I’ve gotten down and get down when it comes to playing this great sport called basketball, along with like I said just the music being in my ancestry and influenced by other great artists that came before my time. I always looked and felt as if those influences is what creates a “product” that’s needed to “fix” what is now broken in the game. Plus Abstract Entertainment Inc. and The 2morrow Peeple is that new per say “piff” that’s gonna hook the game like addicts! Lord willing!!
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Boogie Tha Product: I don’t personally have a problem with online music sharing. I mean you gotta give to get right? Plus it’s a great way to connect in business and other great major, indie, and other artists alike in the music and entertainment industry. Yes, I have and I do depending on the project and the focus of the project, whether it’s promo or money-related.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Boogie Tha Product: First and foremost, to be a great and successful artist to make it in this music business, especially indie it takes more than talent. It takes patience, faith, resilience, being able to take your let downs and disappointments that comes with this shark tank and machine called the music business. Along with a great team that believes in you as much as you believe in them to expand and bring the maximum exposure that one needs in order to get gigs and airplay and so on and so on that helps the artist reach its full ability and success in the music and entertainment industry. Also, connecting with you guys of Exposed Vocals wouldn’t be a bad idea neither. (laughing)
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Boogie Tha Product: No (just joking) but seriously, of course. No ones perfect but God. And through my experiences of hiccups during performances, the best way I handled it was simply through preparation, professionalism, and knowing my craft and having the ability to recover without missing a beat.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Boogie Tha Product: Um, as of now no stories about the tours yet! But they will be coming in the near future, just wait on it. (laughing)
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Boogie Tha Product: Well my inspiration is gathered from a lot of different entities and sources like different genres of music, nature, film, people, and overall life experiences that expresses me as an artist and a abstract thinker which helps me create the type of music I have and continually will to reach the masses that wants something more from music and musicians nowadays. Simple as this, like they say, you put the right artist in the studio, you crack the door of the booth, and you let God in. Period!
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
Boogie Tha Product: Soundcloud.com/boogie-tha-product, FB: Ervin Boogie Estes, IG: boogie_dwn_abstractentinc, Twitter: @EstesErvin, www.youtube.com/BoogieThaProduct
Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?
Boogie Tha Product: In my opinion, I can’t say that there are any embarrassing songs on my mp3 because if they’re on my mp3 player, they aren’t embarrassing to me. Maybe to another listener or a being of a different opinion, but not me. (laughing)
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Boogie Tha Product: With being a artist, I’m also the CEO and President of Abstract Entertainment Inc. since 1982. With that being said, everything that I do and that I am wholeheartedly when it comes to being a artist of music and a businessman, my focus of the half a mil would be towards the betterment of the brand and artist alike that are signed to the company.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
Boogie Tha Product: Well with being a person that have and does move around and has done different work in different studios, all my work has been done on the best and professional quality equipment you can record production on. Rather it was the top of the line studio or your hole in the wall dungeon.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Boogie Tha Product: Well connecting and doing business with promo tools such as yourselves (Exposed Vocals), word of mouth, street team, any social media sites, to the least selling tapes out of the trunk of your vehicle. (laughing) What best works for me is all the tools and avenues that I previously spoke of. I’m not only a sayer, I’m a doer!
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
Boogie Tha Product: The King of Pop baby!!! That’s right, Michael Jackson. I mean why? Who in their right mind wouldn’t? Seriously, in my opinion, and from his influences on me from a kid to my adulthood no matter the scandals and what he went through in his life. He has been one of my driving forces of being the ultimate artist at least in my genre of music. Where? More than likely Paris, London, or NYC.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Boogie Tha Product: Definitely, right now the single “Bad” is in rotation on satellite and FM radio. Keep a ear open in a city or state near you! We also have my EP coming soon titled “Ye Thou I Walk” produced by Alex Emami for Freelife Collective. Also, I’m in works with starting production on the LP (album) not titled right now, just wanna take as much time as it takes to give the listeners and the masses a great work of art. Also, new artist that’s signed under the label projects like “Quinn Capone”. Different Hariseings mixtape coming soon, Executive Producer, Ervin “Boogie” Estes and new and amazing producer/artist “Supa Nova”. Also in works with signing a great writer/artist Hudson Hawk. All artists in their entirety have dope projects we’re working on and that’s in the making ultimately building towards a climax compilation entitled The 2morrow Peeple presented by Abstract Entertainment Inc. Also have a lot of amazing writers as a whole for the brand working on different projects like short film, video, and indie cinema. Great projects, great artists, new, refreshing, hot music and more…that’s what to come from Abstract Entertainment Inc. and The 2morrow Peeple.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Boogie Tha Product: That’s easy…..working towards getting paid to play basketball for a living, honestly!
Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?
Boogie Tha Product: Um, first album? 2-Pac Me Against The World I think. Listening to the album made me feel proud of my heritage. It was something I could relate to because it was the environment I was raised around and with the passion and realism that 2Pac Shakur brought to everything he did from music to film captivated and intrigued me to feeling like yeah this is what I want to do. I want my voice to be heard.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
Boogie Tha Product: Let me sum it up, short and sweet. God, Grind, Hustle, and being a good manager of time.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2015?
Boogie Tha Product: Awesomeness!! (laughing) Seriously!! Expect a new, refreshing sound that I feel is needed in the music biz today. Great new artists that’s hard working, dedicated, and highly talented. With attractive personalities and style that will attract the eyes and ears of the masses in my opinion for years to come. Abstract Entertainment Inc. since 1982….we are The 2morrow Peeple POWER!!!
