MOZZY “Afraid” featuring DCMBR
Like many from impoverished neighborhoods, Mozzy’s upbringing wasn’t the smoothest, and he has never been one to hide that fact. With the debut of ‘1 Up Top Ahk’, the Sacramento up-and-comer has given us yet another music video that gives us more background on his life struggles in the newly released “Afraid”.
For the “Afraid” visual, Mozzy gives us a flashback of the grueling day he endured before being killed by law enforcement. The “I’m A Gangsta” rapper’s lyrics mirror what many before him also faced to survive in the streets, including selling drugs to make ends meet for him and his family. R&B crooner DCMBR backs him up on the topic, singing “Did it all with my wrist/I did it all by breaking down and weighing up and servin’ all who need a fix” as Mozzy checks in on his relatives who are suffering from poverty and drug addictions.
It’s tracks and videos like this that have gotten Mozzy recognition in the hip-hop industry, aside from his 2015 hit “Bladadah” and the amount of projects he’s released over the last two years. Surely we’ll hear more about his California lifestyle on ‘1 Up Top Ahk’, which dropped August 18. The 16-song album sees Mozzy solo on six tracks, while his features include YFN Lucci, Lil Durk, Dave East and Boosie.
