Miss You Anymore by SlimDjim Music Review
Slimdjim a songwriter, producer and recording artist based in the San Francisco Bay Area is an
extremely cultured, well-grounded and definitely talented artist that is so much in tune with what
music lovers want to hear.
Previously featured with Exposed Vocals, he has an extraordinary skill for
story telling and is able to give listeners some really good music. Enjoy Slimdjim’s newest hip hop
track I believe will be among the most favored and also shows how wide a range the hip hop genre
can and has expanded. ‘Miss You Anymore’ the featured track is an example of a specially unique
form of dancing music. A slight derivative of island dancehall music undertone with a pleasantly,
clever hip hop overtone and cover. Skilled with instrumental talent an exceptional pianists SlimDjim
uses programmed keyboard, band moreover, along with other electronically produced sounds to
develope the effect. ‘Miss You Anymore’ begins with a unique blend of percussion and keyboard
accompaniment of a fantastic rhythm, with a slightly mellow dancehall sound or downbeat. This
gives the dancehall island feel.
The intro lyrics chanted ” Miss You Anymore, I don’t miss you
anymore…” the hook and chorus are exclaimed with feeling, showing how earnest the track is. The
rhythm is what would get you going and moreover, the lyrics are an extra bonus! “…memory is what
remains…” As they display an avenue that is not common among current rap music also the
instrumentals appear to be a form used by dancehall reggae artists the world over. In fact the
‘riddim’ (as it is commonly referred to in the reggae world), is the heart of all dancehall music. The
vocals are spoken in a manner that shows sincerity that give the feeling as if it’s a reality that is
occurring. Something that most could relate to. Nevertheless, when it comes to the music May I also
add it is my most favorite type of music! Overall, everything about this track is fantastic! The rhythm
is on point for the hip hop culture and a special treat for the reggae culture. The lyrics and rhyming
are exceptional and the track called for repeated playback! I enjoyed listening to Miss You Anymore
by Slimdjim and look forward to the enjoyment of more of his music.
