Marc Ambrosia – Let Me Be Your Secret “free from the confines of genre or any specific realm of influence”
This is a really interesting song, immediately free from the confines of genre or any specific realm of influence, Marc Ambrosia presents a multitude of sounds and instrumental variation, as well as a deeply emotional piece of songwriting.
The song has been performed, recorded, and produced to a phenomenal standard. As mentioned, there’s nothing that comes to mind initially as having inspired this type of sound. The leading vocal part would perhaps seem at home in among a soft rock or indie backdrop, yet the music, and in fact many of the lyrics, suggest otherwise. In fact, the introduction to the song leans slightly in the direction of theatrical or operatic music, but again, like much of the surrounding elements, this is a fleeting presence. On the whole, the artist offers something uniquely his, and the personality, the vocal tone, the build up, the style – everything shines brightly in this new and ever interesting way, as well as having been written with great skill and depth.
The lyrics are fantastic, often teetering between the intimacy and accessibility of folk or soul, and the much more unorthodox, perhaps holding greater depth, elements of alternative rock. The hook is fantastic, the melodies featured throughout have you hanging on every word almost like it’s gospel, and because of this build up that key section holds incredible power. As you listen it’s very easy to find yourself completely swept away by the song and by it’s message and it’s emotion. When you turn back to look at it objectively though, whenever you may do this, there’s something about the instrumentation and the musical nuances throughout that offer a certain freshness, a touch of the unique, a streak of character.
