Lucky Monkey – Run From Me “a powerful lightness that strikes like lightening”
These guys bring about the realness and grit of classic rock and roll, yet right from the opening few moments the whole thing has something unquestionably new and exciting about it. The sound is huge, the energy at an absolute high, and the passion and strength of those vocals drive the song’s sentiment beautifully. The necessary swagger and confidence, that lust for life and music, comes through in everything here – the vocals, the lyrics, the instrumental performances; the manic and central power of the drums, the guitar solo. The structure of the song is also incredibly effective, there’s so much evolution; the varying sections seem to stray from or even ignore entirely the typical, standard industry set-up for a song, and instead come forth in their own artistic and equally captivating way, in fact even offering something incredibly refreshing and notably satisfying.
The song’s hook is thrown at you from every angle, but this is not by means of overused repetition, it’s that structure again. The opening vocal has a powerful lightness that strikes like lightening above the otherwise low rumble and force of the musical earthquake. As the second vocal hits, the dynamic is immaculate, and the song’s melody is presented under a new light, sinking in even further. By the end of the track, if you’re not singing along to this or lost entirely in the rhythm and attitude of the sound, you’re probably not a fan of rock music (or there’s a problem with your speakers). The band have an awesome sound and it comes complete with musical skill, compositional awareness and professionalism, individuality, and that all important, undeniable level of passion. The varying stages of the song keep things captivating and exciting from start to finish. Definitely one to check out.
