Where Has The Loving Gone by Chan Gibbons “powerful leading vocal performance that just screams soul”
The track achieves a strong balance between the electronic, trance-like side of the musical spectrum and that of the thick, eighties inspired, songwriter driven side. The music has a bit of all sorts of greatness – the beat is heavy yet mellow, the leading synth riff is simple yet mesmerizing, having the effect of being both nostalgic and fresh in its addictive nature. Then of course alongside everything you get this utterly powerful leading vocal performance that just screams soul.
The voice begins as something of a classic R&B styled performance. As things progress there is so much more to be heard and experienced. The leading voice doesn’t simply get louder as the music intensifies, it carries the concept and the evolution of the whole song with absolute power and passion. The performance seems effortless in a way, though it’s close to impossible to mimic, and this passion, this soul, is a huge part of what makes the track so striking.
The musical backdrop alone would make for a fairly enjoyable bit of audible escapism. The fact that this powerful, meaningful, memorable song exists in unison with it, and furthermore, that this song has been delivered with such strength and realness, simply multiplies extensively the lasting effect that the whole thing has on you as you listen.
A league of its own in many ways. The realness, the soul, the flawless yet free flowing, unpredictable structure and swagger of it all. A stand out track that hypnotises its listeners in the best possible way.
