” The leading vocal is dreamlike ” Daria Tara – All Of Me
This track is effective from the offset in presenting something that is all at once striking and original and enjoyable. The music takes a little bit of inspiration from various genres it seems, though production wise, and in fact structurally, the song is driven by a clear sense of experience and direction. There is plenty of melody and build up, a clear and relatable leading vocal performance, a widely relevant subject matter. However, there is also plenty that keeps the track from falling simply into the pop category.
Right from the start, the music has something of a retro or industrial energy to it – the beat chosen, much of the instrumentation, and in many ways the vocal style and the effects chosen throughout. The fusion of what works, what is known to be effective, and the outright unpredictable is really well balanced. The track is fresh, but familiar enough to make sense and to keep people listening. The leading vocal is dreamlike yet real somehow – there’s a definite human touch to the performance and the recording, and this prevents the music from sliding into unreachable islands of obscurity.
The hook melody and the rising notes are captivating and memorable, and they provide that satisfying resolve – that singular moment in much of popular music that everyone comes to recognise. It’s well written, really well performed and produced, and the song itself is new and exciting and easy to get into. This sort of reverb-heavy, indie-pop is appealing when there is enough originality involved to keep things interesting. It would most probably be worth while seeking out more music from the artist if this level of balance between creativity and professionalism is to be expected. Hopefully there is much more to come in the near future.
