Killing Grace – Living Like a Suicide ” genuine level of angst and passion”
Presenting strong riffs and an undeniably authentic heaviness, one that sounds as close to a live performance as possible without losing that studio quality, the band are keeping the heart of rock and roll alive while throwing in a notably modern weight that comes with a fresh and rhythmic bit of additional colour. The riffs and the energy of the drums and the instrumentation in general are the driving force behind the energy and volume of the music, but that leading vocal is equally powerful and fits the sentiment and ambiance of this particular piece beautifully. There’s a genuine level of angst and passion in the voice, carrying the various sections appropriately, from the more spacious, somewhat softer, to the final hit of strength and emotion that brings the song to a screaming halt.
The track is really easy to vibe to, particularly if you’re a fan of blues rock or even heavy metal, the band have uncovered a solid middle ground that appeals on a number of levels. The melody connects and very human and widely accessible way, the music brings weight and volume that let you really lose yourself when you turn it up loud, and the lyrics present something distinctly unusual and memorable. Furthermore, that leading voice has something new about it, there’s a definite sense of individuality to the whole recording.
The connection between band members is a like cause of the finished product sounding so united and ready to roll. A shared passion for music and performance is the only way to locate and maintain that realness. Everything about it implores you to listen more than once, to listen loud, and to try to seek out a live show from the band at the earliest possibility.
