Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Jewels: I was born and raised in Anniston Alabama, I decided to become an artist because of my talents and my passion for music. I was going through a rough patch in my life at the time and music was my crutch. It helped me express myself and keep a clear mind to be able to see the brighter side of things.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Jewels: Sure, learning the business side of the music industry is almost mandatory if you want to be successful!
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Jewels: Of course, everyone gets a little nervous , but I just keep going because 9 times out of 10 the crowd didn’t even notice it and even if they did it’s ok. I practice performing so much that when I do it, it feels as natural as possible.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Jewels: I have yet to do my first tour but I’m sure I will have crazy on-the-road stories once I do begin. .
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
Jewels: Currently I have my own portable home studio that I bring with me almost everywhere because you never know when you’ll get the inspiration to record! There’s always room for improvement so upgrading is a must.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Jewels: Honestly what works best for me is using my social media followers as leverage and reaching them on all my social media platforms. Promoting your music is another important process that any independent artist must have knowledge of. Promotion is key to gaining new fans!
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
Jewels: It would definitely be in Madison Square Garden with Alicia Keys. Alicia is my favorite female artist and the vibes of that performance just sounds magical!
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Jewels: Yes I do plan on dropping a Mixtape this summer, it will have some of my singles and a lot of new music on it!
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Jewels: I would be playing college football if I wasn’t making music.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in the next year or so?
Jewels: Fans should look forwards to a Jewels Collieon takeover. In the next year or so my name, my music, and I as a person will be on a whole other level!
